If one believes Carlos Alcaraz to be the future of tennis, one might not be wrong. But it’s not just his game and sportsmanship that is adored by everyone, but also his childish nature and funny remarks. Carlos Alcaraz steps onto the court and it’s always a Nike logo on his chest. Alcaraz, a Nike athlete since 2015, recently signed a hefty $1 million contract. Critics believe that Nadal’s sleeveless shirt, a defining design, does not look good on anyone other than the champion himself.

Your local butcher, the independent firm in this analogy, is the heart of the community. Their solutions may not always fit the local palate, reflecting global trends more than local flavours. What’s more, their vast global footprint frequently leaves multinational professional services firms without a localised centre of moral gravity. Independent operators deliver professional service that’s not only about understanding the local market but being a part of it. In the end, while multinationals may offer the world, independents – like the local butcher – offer a slice of home: familiar, bespoke, and most importantly a joy to work with.

Electric vehicles will lose their long-time exemption from road user charges (RUCs) on April 1, Transport Minister Simeon Brown confirmed this afternoon. Brown said that concern had been addressed by a lower RUC rate for PHEVs, whose owners will pay $53 per 1000km. If EVs maintained their RUC exemption as NZ’s fleet electrifies, the Crown would be left with a $2b hole in its books. Overall, she supported the elimination of electric vehicles RUC exemption, however. It’s time for EV owners to pay their fair share,” Wiley said.

I found myself in the bustling heart of Jemaa El-Fnaa markets, in Marrakech, when a wave of unease swept over me. Legitimate tour guides in Morocco always wear their lanyard to prove they are certified. Photo / Sarah PollokThe dread was because, just several days prior, I had been promised such a ‘shortcut’ by a stranger. As I would learn, it saved me from a potentially dangerous but allegedly common tourist trap in Morocco. Before visiting Morocco, friends expressed concerns about me exploring cities alone, but my initial day in Marrakech surprised me with the warmth of its people.
