The man, who has interim name suppression, appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday before Judge David Robinson. He told the jury the man had preyed on his two stepdaughters for about eight years, even burning one of them with a cigarette. The trial is expected to last the remainder of the week and the complainant’s cross-examination will continue today.

In fact, the investors' share of the total has been gradually creeping up ever so slightly every month since June of this year. The all-time low for the investor grouping was in January with 15.4%. The big drop off in investor interest in the market has coincided with the previous government's move to remove interest deductibility for investors. It is going to be interesting to watch over the next few months to see if we do now see some resurgence in investor interest in the housing market.

Mr Scully said Dunedin businesses still afloat since the Covid lockdowns managed to survive that period without any visits from cruise ships. The Ovation of Seas’ next visit to Dunedin is scheduled for December 18 and the Pacific Explorer would return early next year.
