The danger now is the extremism that social media hate algorithms has manufactured. Social media algorithms have allowed for a toxicity of debate that is easily manipulated. Millennial woke culture sees macro violence coming from micro aggressions and piously police those micro aggressions with virtue signalling purity mantras. Most people are on social media and most people have a woke activist or Qanon fanatic in their social media feed screaming their feverish truths. Before social media activists could only face each other off at protests or through letters to the editor or talkback radio.

The Coalition Government says the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will be its main tool for tackling climate change but it won’t be applied to New Zealand farmers. Three of the four Ministers of Agriculture—Todd McClay, Andrew Hoggard, and Mark Patterson—and Simon Watts, Minister for Climate Change, confirmed the policy on Tuesday. Wanye Langford, president of Federated Farmers, said he hoped the group would focus on reducing, rather than pricing, on-farm emissions. The group aims to avoid emissions pricing altogether and encourage farmers to use their resources to reduce methane output instead of “paying a tax”. “These investments signal the Government's support for farmers while ensuring New Zealand meets its international climate change obligations,” Watts said.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said he believed the Government had “designed a system incredibly well to put more emphasis on low- and middle-income New Zealanders”. Luxon cited the fact that the benefits of the income tax cuts were capped at $78,100, after which earning more money will not increase the size of a person’s income tax cut. Low income Kiwis include seniors, who get a measly few dollars a week from the tax changes,” Edmonds said. The second tax credit, the IWTC is a key Working for Families tax credit. The problem is that the Government has not touched the family tax credit (FTC), a Working for Families tax credit that goes to households on a benefit as well as those who work.

No, he invested in a ticket, like the rest of us waiting patiently in line, in the hope of the ‘big win’.
