The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for allowing the judiciary to discharge its duties independently which saw him and other governors win their cases at the Supreme Court. Otti noted that Tinubu’s non-interference in the judiciary has brought about positive results in the country. The governor spoke to journalists in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, on Friday, shortly after the reaffirmation of his victory by the Supreme Court. I believe that his non-interference in the judiciary has produced positive results in the country today. He thanked all the governorship candidates, especially those who did not go to court for being supportive.

The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang. Muftwang’s victory at the March 18, 2023 poll was upheld by the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Jos but the appeal court overturned the lower court’s victory declaring Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the election. The court, for the same reason, sacked many lawmakers elected on the PDP platform in the state. He also held that the tribunal and court of appeal lacked jurisdiction to entertain the issue. Agim noted that the petition of the APC in the first place was an abuse of the court process and faulted the appeal court for sacking the governor.
