Kano Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has given approval to 45 sworn-in special advisers that they were free to advise him, whenever they felt there was need to do so. Alhaji Yusuf made the call on Thursday after the 45 special advisers had were sworn-in by the state attorney general and commissioner of justice Barrister Haruna Dederi at Government House. According to him, “nobody has monopoly of knowledge adding that since no human being is 100 percent perfect, hence necessary for them to call him to order when necessary to do so. A female undergraduate student (name withheld) has accused a lecturer at the University of Lagos, Akoka, simply identified as Dr Kadiri, of rape. The undergraduate said the incident occurred when she visited the lecturer in the office to sort out issues about her results. A non-governmental organisation, Inclusive Social Welfare and Empowerment Foundation, where the victim reported the case, said rather than the lecturer attending to the undergraduate’s result issues, he allegedly raped her on August 16, 2023. The Labour Party (LP) has rejected the judgments of the Presidential Election Petitions Court in the party’s petitions challenging the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu. Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner of the February 25, 2023 poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Labour Party spokesman Obiora Ifoh in a statement said justice was not served in the petitions of the party against the APC and Tinubu. He also said the Labour Party will make its next move known upon consultation with its lawyers after receiving the Certified True Copy of the judgments. Obi and Labour Party claimed that President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not duly elected during the February 25, 2023 poll.

The Justice Haruna Tsammani-led five-member panel of the Presidential Petition Election Tribunal on Wednesday said the Allied Peoples Movement’s petition challenging the qualification of Vice President, Kashim Shettima, was a pre-election matter.
