ISLAMABAD - The per tola price of 24 karat gold decreased by Rs 1000 and was sold at Rs 232,600 on Friday against its sale at Rs 233,600 the previous day, All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also decreased by Rs 857 to Rs 199,417 from Rs 200,274, whereas the price of 10 grams of 22-karat gold went down to Rs 182,800 from Rs 183,585. The price of per tola silver decreased by Rs 50 to close at Rs 2850 and that of ten-gram silver also declined by Rs 42.87 to Rs 2443.41.

BIRMINGHAM – A Birmingham man was shot in an assault on Thursday, May 18, 2023. At around 2:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to a person shot call at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Tempest Drive Southwest. Officers arrived on the scene and entered an apartment when they discovered the victim, Antoine Deonta Ester, 26, of Birmingham, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at 2:42 p.m. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim got into an argument with an unknown suspect.

ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court of Pakistan Thursday granted bail to chief of the Haq Do Tehreek (HDT) Maulana Hi­dayatur Rehman, and ordered his release against two surety bonds of Rs0.3 million. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, and comprising Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar conducted hear­ing of the bail petition of Maulana Hidayat. During the hearing, Advocate Kamran Mur­taza, representing the HDT chief argued that his client was arrested from court premises. Balochistan Advocate General ar­gued that Rehman should not be grant­ed bail until the main accused, Majid Johar, is sent on judicial remand. The movement advocating for the rights of the people of Gwadar was launched in November 2021, with Maulana Rehman at the forefront.
