Many people in Pakistan raise a lot of hue and cry when someone talks about femi-nism and women’s rights. Men in many conser-vative regions across the country define women’s jurisdictions, confine them to live within those boundaries, and raise voice on their behalf, if at all needed. The report must be discussed in educational institutions throughout the country if we really want practical solutions to these problems. It is an understatement to say that women in rural areas live in vulnerable conditions. Indeed, this centuries-old patriarchal society cannot transform within minutes; it will take time and strenuous efforts to end the misery of our womenfolk.

Mobile apps offering micro-loans have been discovered to be engaging in false advertisements, and illegal collection of private data and have proved to be exploitative overall. However, this facility is provided through unverified channels that have often proved to be predatory across the world, including in Pakistan. Many of the apps involved in this practice have been criticised to be corrupt, having extortionist interest rates, and lack transparency as a whole, and these are problems particularly prevalent in Pakistan. According to the CCP, the apps and companies offering micro loans are yet to fulfill the terms of the Non-Banking Microfinance Companies’ Law according to which a framework for regulations must exist before lending, loans must be valued above Rs.10,000 and interest rates should match those advised. With the malpractices that are occurring, the authorities must create an inquiry committee through which there is greater regulation, transparency in working models, and heavy penalties for those who violate the law.

The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Friday claimed that a second militant group from Balochistan has joined the ranks of the militant outfitAccording to a statement issued by TTP spokesperson Muhammad Khurasani, "the militant group led by separatist leader Mazar Baloch from the Makran district of southern Balochistan has joined TTP". It is pertinent to mention here that this is the second such group from Balochistan to join the TTP. The merger has brought the total tally of groups joining the TTP to 22 since July 2020. The Punjab government has removed four senior police officers from important positions with direction to report to S&GAD and made them OSDs with immediate effect. Among the officers who have been made OSDs are Additional IG Investigation (PSP) Ghulam Ra­sool Zahid (BS-21), Additional IG Establishment (PSP) BA Nasir (BS-21), Additional IG South Pun­jab (PSP) Ehsan Sadiq (BS-21) and Additional IG Welfare (PSP) Mohammad Farooq Mazhar (BS-21) are included.The Punjab Government has is­sued a formal notification in this regard. According to the official notification, Secretary to Government of the Punjab, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab, Ehsan Bhutta (BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Member of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Punjab (CMIT), against a vacant post. Special Secretary Local Government and Community Development Punjab, Musarat Jabeen has been transferred and posted on post vacated by Ehsan Bhutta, as Sec­retary to Government of the Punjab, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab.
