That there have been results does not mean the surfaces were result-oriented. The results have come despite the surfaces, not because of them. - Advertisement -Had we prepared sorting surfaces, regardless of results, Pakistan would have been on the map as a serious cricketing destination for teams and players to look forward to. The wickets we prepared have wasted the two marquee tours that would have changed the perception of Pakistan in the cricket world. Instead, they made us look so unattractive and hopelessly out of date as a destination for Test cricket.

Did You Know? Photo credit: © Sergei Belski-USA TODAY SportsThe Edmonton Oilers have played 51 games in Dallas since the Stars relocated from Minnesota at the start of the 1993-94 season. Last night was the first time in franchise history the Oilers have scored six goals in Dallas. It was an impressive win, and a rare one in Dallas, and it got me thinking about other stats and facts we might not know. Did you know Seattle has only had one set of BTB this season and it was their first two games of the year?

Expecting IEA to evict TTP from the Afghan soil now is naiveté, for reasons previously explained; much that Kabul would badly want to extend control over the TTP enclave and ISIS areas of influence. Here again, since most TTP cadre has local blood on its hands, it demands repatriation in groups carrying arms, which is non-negotiable. The best course for TTP ‘black cadre’ is to assimilate and live in Afghanistan, to age and fade away, like the Arab Mujahideen in erstwhile FATA. Even if the trade bonus is underplayed, the geo-strategic dividend of a relatively peaceful, less militarised and less hostile Afghanistan would compel our decision-makers to shun any animosity towards Afghanistan. However, besides the cited constants, TTP remains the only variable in Pak-Afghan relations.

Contrary to the estimates by the IMF the Federal Board of Revenue estimates the shortfall to be around Rs 50 billion. Although sales tax has not yet been imposed on petroleum products, the development levy has been jacked up to somewhat make up for it. An interesting thing to note however is that despite PDL having increased by the government, the price of all petroleum products witnessed a net decline. This briefing was held on the same day when the announcement regarding the revision of prices of petroleum products came out. Time will tell whether or not the government is able to meet its expected revenue targets and ease the concerns of the IMF.

To gain his freedom, Khan Sahib agreed to retire from politics and go back to his legal practice in Peshawar. Martial Law was lifted in 1972 with the enactment of the interim constitution followed by a permanent version in August 1973. Like Yayha Khan, the outgoing Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has brought disrepute to his institution. There is no justification left for them to operate outside the barracks, their return is inevitable. ‘Barrackwalas’ have to return to their barracks where they rightfully belong.

Is this a problem where the guys on the ice have to be better as a whole? From there, we looked at the current losing streak the Oilers are on and how it’s been extremely frustrating to see them lose three consecutive games against teams that they should be beating more often than not. We also touched on the Oilers’ line combinations that Woodcroft is running with right now and whether it’s time to finally split up Connor and Leon after a few consecutive games of lacklustre results. Despite his early success, it was interesting that the Oilers got this extension done now rather than waiting until the offseason when his price could have gone up. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ON Radio with another thrilling round of Word Association, Tyler’s signature segment that he spends literally seconds working on.

Share:The political contest between the PTI and the PDM took another turn this week as days before the planned dissolution of assemblies in KP and Punjab, a no-confidence motion was submitted against Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi in the Punjab Assembly (PA). As per the constitution, if a minimum of twenty percent of the total members move a no-confidence motion, it will have to be voted upon. Thus far, around 150 members have signed the motion with more members expected to join from outside of Lahore. This is being done to cover all the exits as it will strip the speaker of the power to dissolve the assembly. Some reports also suggest that other strategies are also being considered, such as Chaudhry Shujaat using his influence to bar MPAs from voting in favour of the CM in the no-confidence motion.
