Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, on Tuesday, 23rd December 2025, inaugurated a project for the construction of eyecare facility in Tehsil Havelian, District Abbottabad. The project was implemented by Lok Sudhar Association, a non-governmental organization working to improve the essential eyecare services for underserved communities in Havelian. This project funded by the Government of Japan, improved the quality of eyecare service in Havelian, especially enabled to access cataract surgery for the first time in this region. Ambassador Akamatsu emphasized that provision of affordable health facility is the one of the top priorities in Japan’s assistance policy toward Pakistan. Ambassador Akamatsu also highlighted that the access to quality treatment is the basic prerequisite for any nation to achieve social prosperity.
The England Cricket Board has announced an investigation into allegations of excessive drinking by players during the Ashes series. Various media outlets, including the British Broadcasting Corporation, have claimed that some players were seen drinking a significant amount of alcohol during their stay in Noosa and also in Brisbane before that. The Embassy of Romania in Pakistan, with the support of the Institute of the Romanian Language and in collaboration with the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), has inaugurated the first-ever academic presence of Romanian Studies in Pakistan. The event marks the historic introduction of Romanian language, literature, and cultural studies into Pakistan’s leading multilingual academic environment. Developed in partnership with the Institute of the Romanian Language and supported by the Embassy of Romania in Pakistan, the Romanian Studies program goes beyond language instruction. The donation was made with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, further strengthening the academic foundations of Romanian Studies at NUML. The Romanian Studies program will be coordinated by Dr. Oana Ursache, Doctor of Philology, specializing in comparative literature, culturology, and Hispanic, Oriental, Pre-Columbian, and Arabic literatures.
Islamabad: The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the Kyrgyz Republic have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation to further strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries. Islamabad, — The Government of Japan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), have launched a new initiative titled “The Project for Development of Public Service Infrastructure in the Merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” to strengthen local governance and improve access to essential public services in KP’s Merged Districts. Implemented under UNDP’s Merged Areas Governance Programme (MAGP), the partnership was formalized through a signing ceremony in Islamabad. Following their merger with KP in 2018, the Merged Districts are undergoing a critical transition toward decentralized governance and localized service delivery.
