LOADING ERROR LOADINGSinger-songwriter Graham Nash called out President Donald Trump for trying to “launch us into oblivion” with his attack on Iran. Trump received four draft deferments during the Vietnam War for college and a fifth for bone spurs in his heels. But it was pretty clear who he was talking about in his Friday message, which was posted as the U.S. and Israel continued their attacks on Iran. The best thing we can do is to be the total opposite of him and all the people like him,” Nash added. None of this is normal.”AdvertisementSee his full message below:
I have been in workplaces, classrooms, countless online spaces, family events, and friendships where the judgment of strangers’ weight was like dull, repetitive background music. AdvertisementIs a “plus-size” or “mid-size” person’s Instagram bikini post liberating, or a ruinous attempt to “glorify obesity”? Because it obviously can’t just be a fun, mindless pic of a normal person on holiday... right? AdvertisementTo survive and fester into obsession, weight talk must morph. But Nicola wasn’t talking about any of that when she took a fantasy Regency role which involved looking smoulderingly hot in a (size eight, by the way) corset.
Bill Maher lashed out at The New York Times and accused the newspaper of positioning its coverage to convince readers that the conflict with Iran “is a bad war” on his Club Random podcast. The comedian made the remarks during an episode featuring neuroscientist Sam Harris, recorded a week ago and published on Monday. As the pair discussed the media’s coverage of the Trump administration, Maher pivoted to the Times’ reporting on the conflict. “As we’re talking now, the Iran [war], the new Iran war, and The New York Times headline was, you know, ‘U.S. New: The Mediaite One-Sheet "Newsletter of Newsletters"Your daily summary and analysis of what the many, many media newsletters are saying and reporting.

GOOD MORNING, PORTLAND!👋And also happy daylight saving time to those who celebrate—which is nobody, right? IN LOCAL NEWS:• A new proposal is set to come before Portland City Council this month to help establish a more permanent solution to the city's pothole crisis. The Portland Design Commission unanimously accepted the Revised Primary Master Plan for the Lloyd Center Mall, pushing the massive project one small step forward. The crisis is hitting Asia particularly hard, as they receive the majority of their imported oil from the Middle East. Two suspects in the attack have reportedly been arrested and authorities are currently treating their actions as "ISIS-inspired terrorism."
And there are almost a thousand other billionaires in the country, so pass that wealth tax and warm up the money cannons! I should mention that Jeff Bezos, who owns The Washington Post, would be one of the prime targets of the wealth tax proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California). Unfortunately, there are serious arguments that a wealth tax would be unconstitutional. There’s a reason that European welfare states are funded with broad revenue raisers such as the value-added tax (a sort of extra-efficient sales tax), not wealth taxes. Instead, Denmark has repealed its wealth tax (though there’s a movement to reinstate it), and Norway’s 1 percent wealth tax, which raises about 0.6 percent of GDP, recently caused an exodus of the super-wealthy when it was slightly increased.
As the NFL prepares to kick off its 2026 free agency period, now is a good time to take a look at the Detroit Lions roster with an updated depth chart. This version of the Lions depth chart lists/ranks all players, and highlights the team’s current projected starters (in bold), giving fans a perspective on areas they may hope the team upgrades. The Lions have a few more moving parts heading into this free agency period, as opposed to years past. For example, while we know David Montgomery will be traded for Juice Scruggs (and draft picks), that move technically won’t happen until the start of free agency on Wednesday, March 11, at 4 p.m., but it is reflected on this depth chart. Pride of Detroit has reached out for clarity on his status, and we are awaiting a response.
Business at Apollo Depot Military Outlet, in downtown Oceanside, began picking up about two weeks ago, before news of the military action in Iran. For some service families, the images of missile strikes and talk of deployment readiness have resurrected the fear and uncertainty of Iraq and Afghanistan — so-called forever wars. But in a telephone conversation Sunday, a senior Israeli official familiar with the planning and strategy for the Iran war discussed alternatives to Trump’s call for “unconditional surrender.” The official requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the Iran situation. “I’m not sure it’s in our interest to fight until the regime is toppled,” said the Israeli official. “Nobody wants a never-ending story.”The official said the Israeli and American bombing campaign was nearing the point of achieving its military objectives. “We don’t see anyone who can replace the regime,” the Israeli official said, summarizing a view shared by U.S. and Israeli intelligence analysts. A second concern expressed by the Israeli official was maintaining good relations with the United States at a time when Americans in both political parties are voicing growing concern about the alliance.
As a weekend of intense Santa Ana winds wound down, temperatures neared — or exceeded — all-time highs in Southern California on Sunday. In many cities within L.A. County, high temperatures came close to historical highs, though no records were broken. In downtown L.A., the projected high temperature for Monday was 71 degrees, with even more intense heat — 90 degrees — forecast for Thursday. Santa Ana and Pasadena were both also expected to cool off Monday and Tuesday before the heat wave later in the week. The moderate Santa Ana wind event began to pick up on Friday, creating concerns in the mountains and canyon passes.
