Reuters —A group of Venezuelans who were sent to a maximum-security El Salvador prison from the US and then returned to Venezuela called on Friday for the United States to comply with a ruling that would allow them to challenge their deportation in US courts. Under the ruling, the Trump administration must present a plan to allow their return within two weeks. “The court ruling now orders that we be granted the opportunity for a fair hearing in accordance with the law in the United States,” Ysqueibel Peñaloza, a former detainee, said on behalf of some 252 former prisoners. “We call on the governments of the United States and El Salvador to fully comply with the court order. The deportations drew strong criticism from human rights groups and spawned a legal battle with the Trump administration.

Dear Eric: About 14 years ago our son was seriously dating a woman whom both my wife and I really adored. They broke up, yet remained friends, but she claimed she had adopted us as her parents. My son was sort of okay with this, and she still came to family dinners, events, even when my son brought a new girlfriend along. Then she moved far away for work, but we kept in touch all the time over the phone and internet. Dear Eric: A beloved member of my close friend group has joined a drum troupe that plays at events through the city.
Dear Miss Manners: I was in my friend’s wedding a year ago, and now her anniversary is coming up. Some of us found it to be inappropriate, but we are curious what Miss Manners thinks. Miss Manners suggests they put up a sign-up sheet. New Miss Manners columns are posted Monday through Saturday on washingtonpost.com/advice. The United States hasn’t given up its pursuit of the massive, rusted oil tanker it chased into international waters near Venezuela last weekend, and officials are now contemplating moving additional resources into the area to forcibly board the ship, people familiar with the matter said. The pursuit stems from President Donald Trump’s order of a “blockade” on sanctioned Venezuelan oil tankers. That’s in contrast with the other two tankers successfully intercepted by the Coast Guard — the Skipper and the Centuries. The US piloted both to Texas and is planning to seize their oil cargoes. The ship has been linked to sanctioned Iranian oil and various Iranian proxy groups.

Iran seized a foreign oil tanker as it traveled the strategic Strait of Hormuz, state media said Friday. Mojtaba Ghahramani, a provincial chief of the justice department, said the oil tanker was carrying some 25,000 barrels of smuggled fuel when the Revolutionary Guard naval forces seized the vessel, the official IRNA news agency reported. In November, Iran seized a ship as it traveled through the narrow Strait of Hormuz over what it said were violations, including carrying an illegal consignment. This matters now because developers and smaller device makers had been planning launches and SDK work tied to Horizon access. What this sudden Horizon OS pause means for headset makers in 2025Meta paused Horizon OS sharing on Dec 17, 2025; third‑party access is now uncertain. With IDC forecasting a 39.2% rise in AR/VR shipments in 2025, platform access is the difference between a device that ships with apps and one that struggles for traction. Buyers may see fewer Horizon‑enabled devices in 2025, and developers lose a unified target for optimization. If Meta reopens Horizon access quickly, some launches may recover, but a prolonged pause hands advantage to rivals like Google or Samsung developing alternate stacks.
