LeBron James, during this stretch, is thriving as the second-fiddle for the first time in his life. But would he be better suited to do this in LA, or back home with the Cleveland Cavaliers? James has gone from the odd-man-out in LA to fitting in nicely with the rest of his team. The Lakers are rolling, and James is fitting in more than fitting out. James is insulated by better defenders and fills a much larger need for the Cavs than he does with the Lakers.

César Chávez Elementary School in Los Angeles is among the facilities that could be renamed. Officials are moving Tuesday to strip the name of César Chávez from two Los Angeles school district campuses as fallout continues over allegations against the late labor leader of rape and sexual misconduct with minors. The measure, added by board members Kelly Gonez and Rocio Rivas, contains other significant provisions, including renaming César Chávez Day as “Farmworkers Day” to honor the contributions of those laborers in California. The schools in question are César Chávez Learning Academies in San Fernando and César Chávez Elementary School in El Sereno. The resolution also considers the possibility that allegations against Chávez could trigger mental health issues for survivors of sexual assault.

“We are building a lot more data centers faster than we ever did — and a new AI data center is 10 to 20, maybe 30 times, the size of the largest data centers we had before,” Masanet said. Data Center Map, a nongovernmental website that tracks data centers across the world, lists 289 facilities in California, with more than 4,000 nationwide. The federal government has, so far, largely left it to states or localities to regulate data centers. Power companies that have to upgrade grids to meet data centers’ energy demands sometimes seek to recoup that cost by hiking up rates for all consumers. The debate over data centers is heating up in the Imperial Valley, a rural desert region in southeastern California.
