Credit: Pablo Torre Finds OutThe shuttering of the Washington Post sports section is a watershed moment in the continued decline of the traditional media ecosystem. And it is a move that has been met with sadness across the sports media universe, even from new media stars like Pablo Torre. And the main issue that Pablo Torre sees is the loss of a massively important institution at the Washington Post that has been able to hold people accountable both inside and outside of the sports world. And it’s not just the Washington Post sports section either, it’s also the total transformation of CBS News and Paramount under Bari Weiss and the Ellisons. While the Washington Post hasn’t yet completely shuttered their sports department as was initially feared (at least not yet), it seems like it’s just another step in the destruction of the paper’s reputation and significance.
“The withdrawal of law enforcement resources here is dependent upon cooperation,” Homan said Thursday. AdvertisementOn Saturday, the day federal immigration agents shot Pretti, U.S. Atty. Tim Walz saying he could “bring an end to the chaos” in his state by, among other things, repealing sanctuary city policies and allowing federal agents into local jails. Pretti was the second U.S. citizen fatally shot by federal agents in Minneapolis in recent weeks. More than 3,000 federal immigration agents have been working in Minnesota under the Trump administration’s aggressive enforcement, Operation Metro Surge.
The focus on hedge and assignment clauses in investment advisory agreements reflects the SEC’s willingness to scrutinize documentation presented to advisory clients. In particular, the Order’s focus on hedge clauses shares similarities with enforcement actions brought by the SEC under former Chairman Gary Gensler, which pursued an aggressive regulatory enforcement agenda against investment advisers. Charges and ImplicationsThe SEC charged the Advisers with four separate violations of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 (the Advisers Act). Hedge Clause - Section 206(2)First, as provided in the Order, the SEC found the Advisers utilized investment advisory agreements that included “hedge clause” language, which is designed to limit an adviser’s liability. The Advisers’ hedge clauses, however, were found to be misleading and in violation of Section 206(2) of the Advisers Act.

Freezing temperatures have left banks of ice and snow on virtually every sidewalk in the District. Plenty of roads are still not clear, and many residents have grown frustrated with the city’s response.

A bipartisan funding deal has been reached to avoid a government shutdown, the top Senate Democrat announced, and Senate GOP leaders are taking steps to try to schedule a vote for Thursday night. The deal, according to Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, includes a two-week stopgap funding extension for the Department of Homeland Security that Democrats had requested. The two-week extension to DHS funding is the time frame that Senate Democrats had been pushing for and shorter than what the White House had initially offered. Sen. Markwayne Mullin, however, argued Congress would need at least two weeks procedurally to renegotiate, consider and pass a new DHS funding bill. Seven conservatives had joined all Democrats to block the broader funding package from moving forward.
