WASHINGTON ― Republicans suggested Friday that the progressive groups planning “No Kings” protests against President Donald Trump next weekend just plain hate America. The “No Kings” protests are organized by the progressive groups that have indeed encouraged Democrats to demand concessions from Republicans in exchange for funding the government. But the statements on Friday about “No Kings” protesters hating America or having some terror link were a dramatic rhetorical escalation. Organizers said millions of people turned out for “No Kings” protests across the country in June. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) told HuffPost earlier this week that Democrats weren’t holding out for the “No Kings” protests.

The Rizz Show crew kicks off the morning with a deep dive into the strange and wonderful world of thrift shopping — from accidental treasures to stuff that probably came with a free tetanus shot. Then it’s off the rails with a mental image nobody asked for: Neil Young… on a jetski. You can’t unsee it, but you can laugh about it. Plus: A visit from Dr. Bunting for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, NFL talk, bad luck stories, ridiculous listener emails, and a round of general nonsense that somehow turns into actual life advice. Expect the usual chaos: sports talk, questionable logic, a few rants that go nowhere, and a surprising amount of laughter over absolutely nothing.

via Associated Press White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller caught flak after his CNN interview featured a discomfiting glitch. However, the moment — and the choice of words on Miller’s part, referring to “plenary authority” specifically— caught quite a few viewers by surprise. He typically shows low physical movement, limited facial animation, and few visible micro-expressions, which gives him a composed and controlled appearance,” Beth Dawson, a communication, body language and behavior analyst, told HuffPost. “At the start of the interview, Miller sits upright with a polite smile. “Every body language tell of deception and stress is due to cognitive overload,” Brown said.

LOADING ERROR LOADINGThe indictments of President Donald Trump’s political foes after he publicly called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to prosecute his perceived enemies raise a chilling question: If the Justice Department is little more than a president’s lapdog, is anyone in America ultimately safe from his clutches? As Loeb explains, a vindictive prosecution is when the government prosecutes you in retaliation for exercising your rights. Units inside the Justice Department are expected to act as a self-checking mechanism, too. AdvertisementWith the Justice Department under the leadership of a coterie of Trump’s former personal lawyers who do nothing to hide their partisanship, trust in the system is understandably low. The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment to HuffPost on Friday.

Invoking the so-called nuclear option refers to changing this rule with a simple majority of votes. What they don’t have anywhere close to is the majority of votes required to eliminate the legislative filibuster ― at least not yet. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) “I think that’s a good thing. When Democrats held a narrow 50-seat Senate majority under former President Joe Biden, they were stymied by then-Democratic Sens.

The Biden administration began demanding a truce as the war hit the six-month mark in March 2024 and unveiled its own ceasefire plan that May. Inheriting and expanding Biden’s culture of impunity for Israel, Trump has made the use of that tactic even less likely. The Trump administration has since slashed teams of American officials doing that work and placed U.S. sanctions on ICC and U.N. personnel. AdvertisementFuzzy interpretations of Trump’s plan could further undermine its survival, particularly because the proposal itself is so vague. “The so-called ‘Trump peace plan’... fails to demand justice and reparations,” Agnes Callamard of Amnesty International said in a Wednesday night statement.

You could stop this, you could be the one that could say, ‘Military is getting paid,’” she told Johnson. Johnson, who sat solemnly through her comments, said he was sorry about her situation but still opposes passing a standalone bill to protect military pay. But he conflated her anger at him for not holding a vote on military pay with his stated anger about the ongoing shutdown. She told her story in tears,” Johnson told reporters.

Christopher Mathias, author of "To Catch a Fascist," speaks to Caitlin and Trent about the events of 2020, clashes between violent fascist clubs and "community defense" groups. They discuss misconceptions about what "antifa" is and what kinds of activities they are engaged in, the difference between doxxing a teacher who practices inclusivity and doxxing one who is bragging on far right message boards about their mission to convert students into Nazi soldiers, and the Trump administration's demonization of community defenders and antifascists in 2025.
