The Government of Budapest has reaffirmed its unwavering backing to the realistic autonomy plan offered by Morocco for the Sahara under its sovereignty for a lasting and peaceful resolution of this regional dispute. The supportive stand was expressed by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjártó at a press conference held in Rabat following his talks with Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita. Hungary defends the Moroccan autonomy plan in international fora, added Mr. Szijjártó, citing in this regard his country’s stand voiced during the Appeal to the EU Court of Justice on this issue. The Hungarian official also highlighted Morocco’s role as a responsible player and as a key partner of Hungary for peace and stability in the region and in Africa. Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune dismissed his prime minister on Saturday, replacing him with a seasoned diplomat, the presidency said. Tebboune named Nadir Larbaoui, currently serving as director of the presidential cabinet, to replace Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane. Before heading Tebboune’s cabinet, Larbaoui was a longstanding diplomat, having served as Algeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations and in multiple ambassador posts. Morocco’s largest mining company, Managem, categorically rejected allegations spread by German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung regarding its Abou Azzer cobalt mine.
