Officer-in-Charge of Rangpur Meteorological office meteorologist MdMostafizar Rahman said that the minimum temperatures remained mostlyunchanged with a little rise at places while maximum temperatures marked arise today. However, the intensity of cold remained almost unchanged in the region. "Although the gap between the minimum and maximum temperatures increasedslightly compared to yesterday, it is still feeling cold for the fourthconsecutive day," he said. The minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius was recorded at 9 am todaylike yesterday's same temperature and maximum of 22.4 degrees againstyesterday's 20 degrees Celsius at Rangpur city.

Shipping Adviser M Sakhawat Hossain has announced immediate financial assistance of Tk150,000 for each family of those killed in the launch accident on the Meghna River in Chandpur. He also said the responsible launch owner would compensate the affected families. Two workers went missing after a collision between a sand-laden bulkhead and a passenger launch in the Buriganga River in Fatullah upazila of Narayanganj district on Friday morning. The incident occurred around 6:15am in the Dharmaganj area when the Dhaka-bound launch Sundarban-16 rammed into the stationary bulkhead MV Kashfa Sneha, inspector Akibul Islam, in-charge of Pagla River Police Outpost, said. The missing workers are Md Zahurul Islam Shakil, 25, of Patuakhali, and Md Hasan, 20, of Rajapur in Jhalakathi. Members of the Coast Guard, Fire Service and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) jointly launched rescue operations shortly after the incident, said BIWTA Assistant Director Kamrul Hasan. Earlier on December 14, a similar bulkhead sank in the same area following a collision, though no casualties were reported then.

News Desk :Kamal Hossain, the driver of the battery-powered rickshaw on which Sharif Osman bin Hadi was shot, has given a statement in court as a witness. On Thursday, the investigation officer DB Police Inspector Faisal Ahmed produced Kamal in court and applied for recording his statement as a witness. Gravely wounded, Hadi was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he underwent surgery, and was later admitted to Evercare Hospital. Two days later, he was taken to Singapore by air ambulance, where he died on Dec 18 while receiving treatment. After Hadi was shot, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed a case of attempted murder on Dec 14.

DHAKA, Dec 26, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has arrested two suspected smugglers along with a huge quantity of cement while it was being smuggled to Myanmar. Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq today said that, based on secret information, the Hatiya Coast Guard Station conducted a drive at Hatiyar Tankir Canal in Noakhali at about 5:00 am and seized a large quantity of cement. During the drive, the two suspected smugglers were arrested and 770 bags of cement worth Tk 4.38 lakh, which were loaded for smuggling to Myanmar by evading customs duties and taxes, were seized, the Coast Guard official said. Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals and the seized items are underway. Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq also said the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent smuggling and ensure security in the coastal areas.

Homs was the scene of heavy sectarian violence during Syria's civil war.
