Saudi Arabia has reduced the number of Bangladeshi pilgrims allowed to perform Hajj next year by more than 48,000 compared with this year. A bilateral agreement has been signed allowing 78,500 Bangladeshis to perform Hajj in 2026, according to a media statement issued on Tuesday. The Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) has announced three Hajj packages for those interested in performing Hajj under private management. The Hajj agreement was signed by Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah. The Public Service Commission has released the final results of the 49th Special BCS, recommending 668 candidates for recruitment in the general education cadre. PSC Public Relations Officer SM Matiur Rahman confirmed the matter to bdnews24.com, adding they were selected “for 683 posts in the education cadre”. A case has been filed against 120 BNP activists for allegedly attacking and vandalising the Gopalpur Upazila election office in Tangail and assaulting officials. Tangail Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman told reporters on Monday afternoon that Gopalpur Upazila Election Officer Mohammad Nazrul Islam filed the complaint. According to the case, around 10:30am on Monday, a group led by Khalid and Liakat went to the election office. The government has formalised the positions of 22 High Court judges, who were appointed as additional judges after the July Uprising, by making them permanent.
