A headline ran: “Yes, even if it’s a Bloody Caesar with extra celery: Why even just a little alcohol is a risk.”Now I’m worried. It is a relaxant, a sexual assistant, an enabler of work events and manning the meat grill at family BBQs. The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse and Addiction had the old limit at 15 drinks a week for men and 10 for women. According to him, 14 drinks a week (two per day) “equates to ~8 months knocked off your life. If only two drinks a week can do that, you’re one lucky Canadian.

Dr. Keith WarrinerOntario Agricultural College researcher Dr. Keith Warriner explained the link between raw milk and tuberculosis to CBC News, following the release of a report that found the drink caused the deaths of Indigenous children at a residential school. Warriner said it wasn’t until the early 20th century that people began to view and accept raw milk as a cause of one form of tuberculosis, and that pasteurized milk only became federally mandated in 1991. “It was like the phone in the White House — the presidential phone,” Schwab said. Schwab, German by birth, studied the fine art of hospitality at the world-renowned Heidelberg Hotel Management School in post-war Germany. According to Schwab family lore, Sharp approached the jolly innkeeper with an idea — a plan many others dismissed as crazy — to build an international luxury hotel chain headquartered in Toronto. He understood the European luxury hotel scene was dominated by family-owned establishments — one-offs, in other words — and each had its strengths and flaws. Never one for sitting idle, he launched his own business, Elite International Luxury Hotel Representation based in New York, and set about marketing five-star European establishments to the high-end North Americans.

Mohamad Bsat — a volunteer coach of an under 14 recreational basketball team with the Steel Town Athletic Club — requested 15 copies of the book Do Hard Things by Steve Magness, and assigned them to the members of his basketball team as part of their off-court development. (Submitted by Mohamad Bsat - image credit)When Sandra Pellegrini's 12-year-old son, Jackson, came home with a book from his basketball coach, she knew right away that "it was a great idea." "It talks about what it is to be tough, different types of toughness — like old school versus now — [and] perseverance. It sounds like a pretty good book for them to be reading," Jackson's mother told CBC Hamilton on Sunday.

Despite all the announcements on housing affordability from the new David Eby government in Victoria, a recent report by one of Canada’s largest banks shows things on the ground have never been worse. The NDP has tried desperately to stake out a position of having done something about housing affordability during its first five years in office, as well as the first two months under Eby. “No doubt the interest rates have a big part to play in the prices and where the housing goes,” said Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon. The new affordability report plays well for the Liberals, whose repeated calls for the NDP to show “results” in areas of affordability, housing and health care have proven effective attacks against the government’s credibility. It’s not clear how bad things will continue to get on housing affordability in 2023.
