DUBAI, Sept 22 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund plans to announce soon its first green debt deal, with borrowing linked to sustainability, the Public Investment Fund’s governor told a virtual event. “We will be the first sovereign wealth fund in the world to announce this green issuance,” Governor Yasir al-Rumayyan told an event on Tuesday held alongside the United Nations General Assembly. This month, PIF hired banks to be members of its ESG panel for its medium-term capital-raising strategy, IFR News reported. PIF signed a $15 billion loan with a large group of banks in March, followed a $10 billion loan it took in 2019 that was repaid last year and an $11 billion facility in 2018. Saudi Arabia will announce its “Green Initiative” next month, followed by the “Middle East Initiative”, which includes planting 50 billion trees, Rumayyan said.

That person is Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawy, who repelled the most vicious difficulties faced by Egypt in its modern history. Sept 21 (Reuters) – Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers announced several senior appointments on Tuesday, naming two veteran battlefield commanders from the movement’s southern heartlands as deputies in important ministries. Main Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Mullah Abdul Qayyum Zakir will be deputy defence minister, while Sadr Ibrahim was named deputy minister for the interior. The two were identified in U.N. reports as being among battlefield commanders loyal to the former Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour who were pressing the leadership to step up the war against the Western-backed government. Zakir, a former detainee in the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, was a close associate of late Taliban founder Mullah Omar. Sadr, a former head of the Taliban military commission from the southern province of Helmand, will be deputy to Sirajuddin Haqqani, whose family comes from the eastern borderlands with Pakistan.

DUBAI, Sept 21 (Reuters) – The United Arab Emirates’ energy minister said on Tuesday low gas prices were not sustainable and a recent hike reflected market fundamentals and a lack of investment in the sector. “Gas prices were not sustainable (at) $2 or $3. The market will drive the price,” Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei said at an industry conference in Dubai. Gas prices have soared 280% higher in Europe this year and by more than 100% in the United States due to a range of factors including low storage levels, carbon prices and reduced Russian supply.
