ADDIS ABABA – The third Joint Committee Meeting of the Monitoring, Verification and Compliance Mechanism (MVCM) of the Ethiopian peace process was held on Friday. The committee – proposed the extension of the mandate of the MVCM from Jan 1 to Dec 1, 2024 – agreed to convene “a strategic reflection session” “at the earliest possible time but not later than two months”. The AU announced the commitment of one million US Dollars from its Peace Fund towards implementing the Permanent COHA, and appreciated the federal government and the TPLF for their commitment to the spirit of African Solutions to African problems.
