What is clear is that the Ayatollah, who ruled Iran with diabolical despotism for nearly four decades, is dead. When news came of the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, my first reaction was to celebrate. In private conversations and on social media, I have spent most of last week discussing the dead despot with various people. This could well be true, and if things go wrong from here onwards, then the United States will be held accountable. If we are, then it is my fervent hope that we pick the team that is led by the United States and Israel, because this is the team with democracies in it.

Tehran has responded to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran by hitting Israel and Gulf Arab states hosting U.S. military installations. Trump reiterated his demand for a say in selecting Iran's new supreme leader, a notion rejected by Iravani. Hardline clerics have called for the swift selection of a new supreme leader, Iranian media reported on Saturday, with meetings occurring as soon as Sunday.

Katyusha rockets targeted the U.S. embassy in Baghdad on Saturday and sirens sounded, security sources and witnesses said, though it was not immediately clear whether the rockets caused any damage or casualties. The attack was the first time the embassy had been fired on in more than two years. ADVERTISEMENTExplosions were heard near the embassy in central Baghdad around 9 p.m. (1800 GMT), and sirens warning people to take cover sounded, witnesses said. A senior Iraqi security official told Reuters the C-RAM defence system brought down one of the rockets and that none landed inside the embassy. The attack indicates that Iran-aligned Iraqi militias — who have vowed to retaliate for the killing of Iran’s supreme leader — have widened their targets beyond U.S. military bases in Iraqi Kurdistan and U.S. energy interests to now include the U.S. Embassy.

Iran hopes that closing the strait will force world opinion to bear upon Israel and the U.S. to end the conflict. The strait is a leverage that Iran has historically exercised, such as during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. Why the closure of Strait of Hormuz is causing fears about elevating crude oil pricesHow does the situation affect India’s economy and oil prices?

Arshdeep Singh’s wide yorkers seem to have become the butt of all jokes even among his teammates. The left-arm seamer’s ploy of trying to restrict the marauding batters with wide yorkers hasn’t always delivered the results. With Varun Chakravarthy too struggling, it has been left to Jasprit Bumrah to weather the storm on most occasions. While Varun is nowhere near his menacing self, Arshdeep too has failed to maintain his consistency. Varun has been the most expensive in the tournament with 8.85, followed by Arshdeep at 8.53.
