The Maharashtra cabinet on Thursday cleared a draft prohibition of conversion bill which makes it mandatory to seek permission from a competent authority before converting to another religion. A person who wants to convert must give a 60-day notice and seek permission from the designated authority before converting, an official said, talking about the provisions in the bill. Further, a conversion must be registered with the authority within 25 days, or it will be considered null and void, he said. If the blood relative of a person who wishes to convert files a complaint about the same being unlawful, police will register a First Information Report and conduct a probe, as per the bill.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy on Thursday said it diverted an American-origin P-8I aircraft along with naval ships after receiving a distress call from the Iranian Navy frigate IRIS Dena, which was operating in the Sri Lanka's Search and Rescue (SAR) region, to assist ongoing rescue operations. “A distress call from IRIS Dena was received at the MRCC Colombo in the early hours of Wednesday as reported by the Sri Lankan Navy. The ship was operating 20 NM west of Galle in the SAR (search and rescue) region under Sri Lankan responsibility,” the Navy said in a statement. According to the Navy, the distress alert was relayed through the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Colombo, following which Indian assets were deployed to assist the search efforts being led by Sri Lanka. “On receipt of the information, the Indian Navy promptly launched its SAR efforts commencing with a long-range maritime patrol aircraft at 1000 hr on Wednesday to augment the search efforts led by Sri Lanka,” the statement said.

GUWAHATI: A Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Assam’s Karbi Anglong, killing both pilots. The Russian-origin aircraft, which had taken off from the Jorhat airbase on a routine training mission, was reported missing from radar contact at 7.42 pm on Thursday. The victims were identified as Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar. “IAF acknowledges the loss of Sqn Ldr Anuj and Flt Lt Purvesh Duragkar, who sustained fatal injuries in the Su-30 crash. All personnel of the IAF express sincere condolences and stand firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief,” the IAF posted on X on Friday morning.

Fatehpur News: उत्तर प्रदेश के फतेहपुर जिले के कल्यानपुर थाना क्षेत्र के कनेरी गांव में बुधवार दोपहर एक सड़क हादसे के बाद माहौल अचानक तनावपूर्ण हो गया. गांव के ही एक युवक की बाइक की टक्कर से नौ वर्षीय किशोर गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गया. हादसे के बाद गुस्साए ग्रामीणों ने बाइक चालक को पकड़कर कमरे में बंद कर दिया. लेकिन आरोप है कि वहां मौजूद लोगों का गुस्सा कम होने के बजाय और बढ़ गया. घटना में शामिल लोगों के खिलाफ केस दर्ज किया जा रहा है और जांच के आधार पर आगे की कार्रवाई की जाएगी.
