Speaking on a case concerning the grant of maintenance in a marital dispute, the Delhi High Court dismissed the myth of the ‘idle’ wife. The high court made a distinction between ‘capable of earning’ and ‘actually earning’ in setting aside the denial of maintenance by the magistrate and appellate courts. Hearteningly, the Delhi High Court emphasised the economic value of the contribution made by a wife through her labour for the functioning of the household, even though the wife’s labour does not show in bank statements or tax reports. The value of a wife’s work, however, goes beyond the economic. It is time that the myth of the idle wife was decisively dismissed, and not by a high court alone.

A Game of Thrones spinoff feature film is in development at Warner Bros, with screenwriter Beau Willimon already having submitted a draft. The film will be set several centuries before the events of the original television series. The project, which first entered early development in late 2024, is based on author George R R Martin's bestselling fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. The Game of Thrones series, created by David Benioff and D B Weiss, ran for eight seasons between 2011 and 2019, becoming a global cultural phenomenon and winning 59 Emmy Awards. Warner Bros. is currently in the process of being acquired by Paramount Skydance, and new management following the merger could potentially shelve projects in development.

Traditional ice fishermen who make up half the local industry are seeing the most dramatic changes to the way they fish. That sea ice started disappearing around 1997, Sandgreen said, and fishermen who drilled through the ice to fish increasingly started to fish by boat instead. Toke Binzer, the chief executive of the island's single biggest employer, Royal Greenland, said he is increasingly worried about a future with greatly diminished sea ice. Royal Greenland already loans fishermen money to buy a boat, which they repay from selling their catch, Binzer said. Already, dog sledders have been confined to land when there is no sea ice.

The WPR vote revives doubts over executive war powers that have shaped US military interventions since World War II. Nixon’s unauthorised bombing of Cambodia and Laos, in the later half of Vietnam War, resulted in Congress pushing back against presidential veto with the War Powers resolution. The operation was launched without prior congressional authorisation or a formal declaration of war. Libya crisis (2011)President Barack Obama sidestepped the War Powers Resolution and congressional AUMF to lead the US into a NATO campaign after the UN authorised force to protect civilians during Libya’s civil war against Muammar Gaddafi. He argued the limited US role did not trigger the War Powers Resolution’s 60-day clock.

An Indian government source said New Delhi was scouting for alternative supply to prepare for continuing conflict in the Middle East beyond 10–15 days. The industry source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Russia was ready to help India meet up to 40% of its crude needs. U.S. President Donald Trump last month agreed to drop punitive tariffs levied on imports from India over its purchase of Russian oil, saying New Delhi had agreed to "stop buying Russian oil." India has not done so, insisting its strategy was to diversify supply in line with market conditions and "evolving international dynamics." OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Tuesday defended the company's decision to allow ChatGPT to be used for classified assignments by the US government, according to multiple media reports. Reportedly, the US government used Anthropic's AI during the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the recent strikes in Iran. However, the Pentagon is also said to have talked with Elon Musk's xAI to allow for using its models across classified use cases. OpenAI had set three conditions for the use of its AI models by the Pentagon: no use of its AI for mass domestic surveillance, direct autonomous weapons systems or high-stakes automated decisions. Altman reportedly said that xAI will, however, pose no such requests to the Pentagon and will do whatever the agency says.
