Periodic purges at the highest levels of state institutions have led to conflicting interpretations as to the real state of affairs. It is worth examining whether this is merely another purge by Mr. Xi or an indication of the growing challenges to his leadership. While Mr. Xi appears to have emerged successful, yet again, the fig leaf of another massive anti-corruption purge is beginning to wear thin. It is, however uncertain, as of now, whether China is indeed undergoing a turmoil at the very highest levels of the CPC. Most strategic experts seem to feel that problems at the highest levels of the CPC can be the only plausible explanation.

The war between the U.S.-Israel and Iran has put stress on the country’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply, which was already heavily import dependent and in need of government aid previously. In just a week after the conflict began, on March 7, domestic LPG prices were raised by ₹60 per cylinder. The quantity of India’s LPG imports increased from over 16.48 million metric tonnes in 2020-21 to over 18 MMT in 2025-26. India’s LPG imports are heavily concentrated in a few countries, most of them in West Asia. In 2025, Qatar accounted for about 34% of India’s LPG imports, making it the country’s largest supplier.

'Not seeking ceasefire'The Israeli-US attacks came weeks after Iranian authorities ruthlessly crushed mass protests, although the United States and Israel say they are not necessarily seeking to topple the Islamic republic. Iranian authorities warned against dissent at home, with the country's police chief saying protesters will be viewed and dealt with as "enemies". Drones and ballistic missiles were also intercepted elsewhere in the Gulf, including multiple drones heading to the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia, its defence ministry said. "We believe the aggressor must be punished and taught a lesson that will deter them from attacking Iran again," he added. Seven US military personnel have been killed and about 140 injured since the start of the war, according to the Pentagon.

The buying spree follows Washington’s decision to allow Indian firms to purchase Russian oil that had been loaded onto ships before March 5. That resulted in international crude oil prices falling steeply on the Brent Index from a peak of $119 on Monday to around $88. The scramble for crude oil is only one part of a much broader energy shortage unfolding across the country. This includes piped natural gas to homes, compressed natural gas used by buses, taxis and other vehicles, gas used to produce cooking fuel such as LPG, and the fuel required to keep the country’s pipeline network operating. Natural gas supplies are also under pressure, with major supplier Qatar halting production following an Iranian drone strike.

Yet, it is also true that I was obsessed with Iran and had almost personified the entire country in my head as a lover. The thesis allowed me to live in New York but daydream of Iran. “It’s Iran — just like it’s India.”“The Americans have chosen to hate Iran,” said an Iranian businessman, who, in recent years, was jailed for large‐scale financial fraud. I started to sense that my obsession with Iran was really my desire to nurture my ability to mourn. Saffron was mixed with minced meat, and I sat there watching everything — an outsider trying to understand Iranian ways of dealing with grief.

Meta's move reflects the tech industry's ongoing fascination with the promise of AI agents that go beyond a chatbot's capabilities in being able to act and perform tasks on a person's behalf. Meta said in a statement that Moltbook introduced novel ideas in a "rapidly developing space" and will open "new ways for AI agents to work for people and businesses." Researchers at Wiz, a cloud security platform, published a report shortly after the platform launched detailing security vulnerabilities on the site, which have since been patched.
