Corey Edwards will no longer be Reform’s lead candidate for Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg constituency in the May 7 election for the Welsh parliament. My grandfather fought the Nazis, and his brother-in-law was a prisonerAnnouncing his decision to step down, a Reform UK Wales spokesperson said: “Corey Edwards has informed us that he is stepping down as a candidate for the Senedd election this May, citing issues with his mental health. “The Nazi regime was the most barbaric ever, and I’d never make light of nor dilute its seriousness. How many of the crowd understood, from what was likely their first time hearing it, that the “Amy” Raye namechecked was the late Amy Winehouse? The one made between Raye and Winehouse, who died in 2011, aged 27, has certainly been persistent. (Before the rise of the fast-fashion website she might have been branded the “Poundland Amy Winehouse”.) Youthful, untarnished panache: Amy Winehouse in 2004. Hurt permeated Winehouse’s music; Raye’s output is also heartfelt, but it can be more outward-facing, more meta.

In California, Shasta County confirmed a new measles case, bringing the state’s total to at least 32, in a vaccinated individual under 18. The case is not linked to a previous measles case reported in Spokane last week involving an unvaccinated child who traveled from Kootenai County, Idaho. New York City saw 20 measles cases in 2025, a slight uptick from the previous year. Florida has reported 140 measles cases this year, with seven of those being confirmed in the first few weeks of March.

‌However, after qualifying only 11th for the Japanese Grand Prix on Saturday, Verstappen gave his most explicit indication yet that he's seriously considering his future. When asked to elaborate on what he was referring to, he responded: "Life... Life here," and confirmed his sentiments are related to the current F1 regulations. ‌Verstappen has been one of the most outspoken critics of the new cars, which derive nearly half of their power from a battery. Verstappen struggled to find the right words, in English or even his native Dutch, to convey his disappointment at the situation. ‌Verstappen is contracted until 2028 but it's widely known that his agreement includes exit clauses which can be activated even mid-season based on performance.

Donald Trump was clearly at the back of the queue when attention to detail and forward-thinking were handed out. The results have seen the world plunged into a state of previously unknown chaos – and the US President himself left flailing like an ageing prize fighter who just didn’t know when to hang up his gloves. For all his stream-of-consciousness bravado and bluster, Trump appears more out of his depth with each passing day. At home, there is no escaping the fact that it has been a dispiriting week for everyone who loves Britain. With civilisation teetering on the brink of a third world war, Sir Keir should hang his head in shame for leaving Britain with no say, no voice and no political clout on the international stage.

Tyson Fury took a lion for a walk in a bid to spook his upcoming opponent Arslanbek Makhmudov. But his opponent Makhmudov is widely regarded as one of the division's most dangerous knockout artists. Dillian Whyte has warned Fury that his comeback contest will be 'very dangerous,' telling Sky Sports: 'At first I thought, easy fight for Fury, very easy fight for Fury - that was my first response. But after going back and watching Makhmudov, I said, "OK, he's a tough guy, he's coming off a couple of good wins, and he's a big puncher." Most boxing fans will say it's an easy fight for Fury, but I don't think it's an easy fight.

Breslin’s book is accessible, straightforward, honest and full of good tipsThis week there’s a new cookbook by an internet sensation, a book about minding ourselves and our mental health, an account of the crazed and crazy shenanigans that go on in Facebook, and a book of essays about monuments. But this book is not aimed only at people who live anxious lives, it’s aimed at the general reader. The idea is not new, but reading Breslin’s book is far more enjoyable than wading through esoteric texts like the Dhammapada or the Tao Te Ching. It’s accessible, straightforward, honest and full of good tips. Then again, you would not believe most of this tell-all book, but fact is always stranger than fiction.

Ben White was booed by England fans as he made a chaotic return to international football after four years following a self-imposed exile. And, in the 69th minute of Friday's friendly clash with Uruguay, White won his fifth England cap as he came on to replace Fikayo Tomori. However, as his name was announced, large swathes of the Wembley crowd booed in protest at his controversial return. He also urged fans not to boo White if he did play against Uruguay, a call they ultimately ignored. This ruled White out of an international return ahead of Euro 2024, Southgate's last tournament in charge.

Silva's Manchester City contract is due to expire at the end of June and it appears likely that he could leave on a free transfer. But this summer could be one of major change for City, with Guardiola's future the subject of much speculation, and Silva could also move on. ‌If Mendes does work his magic, then Silva could be moving to La Liga alongside City team-mate Rodri, who has been linked with Real Madrid. "I’d like to return, yes, obviously," Rodri said this week when asked about returning to Spain. "Right now I’m free, well, obviously I have a year left on my contract, obviously there will be a point where we’ll have to sit down and talk, have a conversation."
