Gardaí objected to bail being granted to a 23-year-old man arrested and charged with assault causing harm to another man in Cork city centre last October. Judge John King said the objection did not reach the necessary threshold for a refusal of bail and he granted bail to Martin Ekhosuehi of Willow Gardens, Brooklodge, Glanmire, County Cork. Garda Steven O'Sullivan outlined the background to the alleged incident on Sunday, October 26, at Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork. Garda O’Sullivan noted that the complainant had a cut on his chin which was bleeding. Gardaí approached this male and established his identity as Martin Ekhosuehi,” Garda O’Sullivan testified.

One good way of categorising US overtures on Greenland – and Danish pushback – is deja vu all over again. Traffic on a snow-covered street in Nuuk, Greenland. Photograph: Sean Gallup/Getty ImagesEven in its days as a colony, most Danes agree there was no bounty of resources from Greenland. When it comes to Greenland, Danish analyst Ulrik Pram Gad, senior researcher, Danish Institute for International Studies, his home land’s self-regard may, in hindsight, have been a blind spot in the growing stand-off with Washington. For analyst Søndergaard the question of what Denmark gets out of Greenland is one for another day and of secondary concern now.

EU leaders ‌will discuss options, including tariffs worth €93 billion on US imports, at an emergency summit on Brussels on Thursday. Stock markets fell, extending Monday’s declines, as the threats from the US reignited a debate over the “Sell America” trade that emerged after Trump’s “Liberation Day” levies announced last April. “The situation in Greenland [is] worrying the markets. “I don’t see for the moment anything comparable to Liberation Day or to something very dramatic for markets,” she added. As investors weighed up the risk of Trump reigniting a trade war with Europe over Greenland, US treasury yields hit their highest since September in early trading.

The construction of Egypt’s Great Pyramid has long baffled archaeologists, with no surviving ancient texts explaining how its massive stone blocks were lifted and assembled so quickly. Such irregularities are difficult to explain if the pyramid was built neatly from the ground up using external ramps. Instead, the offsets suggest builders were working around mechanical constraints imposed by internal lifting systems. However, smaller corridors or remnants of internal ramps may still exist in the outer portions of the structure, particularly higher up. If supported by future discoveries, Scheuring’s proposal could reshape how archaeologists understand not only the Great Pyramid but also pyramid construction across ancient Egypt.

Katie Taylor said she is hugely frustrated by the gender pay gap which exists in boxing. The Bray woman said if she was a male fighter who had achieved all she has in her 20-year career, she’d be “an absolute multi, multi, multi-millionaire”. “The inequalities are also still there within the pay gap as well,” Taylor said at the launch of the Lidl Ladies National Football League at Croke Park on Tuesday. “In my world, the best paid female fighters - probably myself and Amanda Serrano - are still far away off from the best male fighters. “I think we are making great, great progress in that area, but it's very, very slow and it's very, very frustrating to think if I was a male, I'd be an absolute multi, multi, multi-millionaire now.

The incidents came within 54 seconds of each other and with City trailing 3-1 in Norway, albeit having just scored to give themselves a glimmer of hope in this group-stage fixture. Rodri was first booked on 61 minutes when he brought down Hakon Evjen on the halfway line with a trip. The Spaniard left referee Sven Jablonski with no choice but to show him a second yellow card inside a minute, despite his protestations.
