In September 2024, a 64-year-old woman became the first human to experience her last moments in a futuristic killing device known as the Sarco pod. One is the Double Dutch Sarco pod, a new-and-improved euthanasia capsule, now augmented with AI and purpose-built for couples who want to draw their last breaths side by side. ‘That part wasn't working when we first used the device,’ he says, meaning the first woman to use the Sarco pod went through a conventional evaluation. Cat Deeley went makeup free for a relaxed day out in north London on Friday. The TV presenter, 49, looked stylish in a pair of oversized aviator glasses and wrapped up warm in a khaki green parka with a fur-lined hood. It comes amid brutal cuts to ITV's daytime TV schedule, which saw This Morning move studios and changed around with a brand-new set. While Good Morning Britain was broadcast live from the ITN Studios, This Morning went on air from The H Club, in Covent Garden, for the first time. It saw a major change to the set-up of the iconic This Morning studio - with the blue sofa instead on the left hand side of the studio, and a kitchen on the right.

Iranian Americans participate in a candlelight vigil outside the White House for Iranians killed during this month's protests in Iran. Some of those were killed “brutally and inhumanely,” Khamenei said without offering detail in a public meeting broadcast on state TV. He said US president Donald Trump was culpable for “deaths, damage and accusations he has inflicted on the Iranian people”, and that Washington’s broader policy goal was to place Iran under military, political and economic domination. The protests have taken place during a record-long internet blackout for Iran’s population of about 92 million people. NetBlocks on Friday said the current blackout had surpassed the internet shutdown imposed during the country’s 2019 protests.

The issue lies with the rejection of aid, whereby Israel will permit specific items to enter into Gaza, while refusing to allow others. He particularly recalls one moment, when French president Emmanuel Macron visited the aid hub and spotted a French flag on a crate of items rejected at the crossing. One humanitarian aid worker, speaking at a separate camp in Jordan, told the Irish Examiner how there are ongoing issues with the delivery of high-calorie foods, such as chocolate, honey, and halva. As I speak to the humanitarian aid worker from the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation, the agency’s main route into Palestine has been closed since September. One thing is certain though as the next phase begins, aid must be rushed into Gaza.

Maybe this afternoon of glorious pandemonium at Old Trafford and the giving of thanks for a magical 90 minutes in which United played Manchester City, their tormentors for much of the last decade, off the park will be a prelude to more misery. As a way to make yourself popular with United fans and spark their imagination after so long in mothballs, Mainoo’s inclusion was a brilliant move. City fans wasted no time expressing their glee at the chaos that has enveloped United anew in the last fortnight. Bruno Fernandes swung over a corner from the United left deep to the back post. The replays were not pretty but a caution was the correct decision even if City fans bayed for worse.

The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) has said it will consider an invitation from Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader Gavin Robinson to take part in talks on unionist co-operation. Mr Robinson told DUP members in an email he had invited UUP leader-elect Jon Burrows to discuss areas of co-operation. The invitation came a day after the former senior police officer emerged as the sole contender to succeed Mike Nesbitt as UUP leader. On Saturday, a UUP spokesperson said its new leadership team will consider any request to meet, “judged against what is best for Northern Ireland and its people”. “As leader of the largest unionist party, I am determined to make every effort to ensure that unionism does not squander the narrow window of opportunity that exists to prepare for the future,” he said.

The Government must be “conscious” of actions it takes around the Occupied Territories Bill given the fragility of the ceasefire in Gaza, the foreign minister has said. “What I can say is that it’s very clear from the AG’s response that it is extremely complex in application and also in being able to enforce,” Ms McEntee said. Asked if this meant the legislation would solely focus on banning importation of goods from the occupied Palestinian territories, Ms McEntee said she could not say at present. That’s not a reason not to do it,” Ms McEntee said. I think we have to work on the basis and it’s very hard to comprehend anything other than a Nato country would never, by force, take or invade another Nato country,” Ms McEntee said.

I think that's the main thing. “We've got another guy, Conor Bartley, I've been really impressed by what he can do at scrum time, he's pretty destructive there when he's had his opportunities. And obviously, John Ryan, that's someone I knew of from my time at Leinster, he's always been strong up front. “To be honest, I haven't really thought that much about it because with where I was in France, I went through a hard period there not playing,” Ala’alatoa said. To be honest, it's been hard to think past the week in, week out at the moment.

Munster head coach Clayton McMillan knows all about the danger of distractions, which is probably why he deflected any suggestions linking him to the vacant New Zealand job. To be perfectly honest, with all respect, I haven’t even given any thought to the question that you’ve just asked. Munster head coach Clayton McMillan said his only focus was on his team's match against Castres when asked if he was interested in the vacant New Zealand head coach position. Nevertheless, the visit of four-time champions Leinster carries a certain cachet, not least for the players. “Obviously that game [Castres] is the priority for us, but I think it’s important that players get game time before going into that. We’ll be putting out a better team than we did against Leicester, that’s for sure.” The Basque side suffered a 57-14 Champions Cup defeat to Leicester last Saturday. He stayed there six seasons and was part of the team that lost the 2015 Champions Cup final to Toulon in Twickenham.
