A hoard of armed police swarmed a farm near Macclesfield after a dog reportedly mauled sheep to death. Farmer Alan Jackson, 65, said that 23 of his sheep were killed by a hound that got into his field a week before Christmas. Two more were put down when Mr Jackson called the knackerman in to dispose of the carcasses. Mr Jackson told the Daily Mail of the police response: 'It was a little bit OTT (over the top), I must admit. But this new law comes in exactly three months too late for Mr Jackson.

A Cork paramedic who successfully resuscitated her partner and shocked him with her defibrillator when he suffered a cardiac arrest last year is launching a new countrywide training service. The couple did not have plans to see each other, but after a bad shift at work for Helena, Mark made his way to hers. When Mark went into cardiac arrest, she had her defibrillator from work in the boot of her car. The training service will also be looking at supporting the mental health of those who administer CPR for members of their families, Ms Kiely said. "Just recognising that they are in cardiac arrest is the main thing, and making the call."

The process involves separating young players into different teams based on their ability — and is a topical issue as coaches put plans in place for the year ahead. He said he expected “a lot of push back” against streaming but did not find that sentiment among parents, coaches and players.
