Trump says Iran war could be over soon but warns against oil disruptionEuropean natural gas dropped after US President Donald Trump predicted the Iran war will end soon, as he faces mounting pressure over how the conflict has upended energy markets. Benchmark futures fell as much as 16pc, following oil, after extreme price swings in the previous session. Oil prices also fell on Tuesday after hitting a more than three-year high in the previous session as President Trump’s comments eased concerns about prolonged disruptions to global oil supplies. The conflict, now in its second week, upended global oil and gas trade, threatening the worst supply shock to the market since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Dutch front-month futures, Europe's gas benchmark, traded 15pc lower at €48.27 a megawatt-hour by 8:12 a.m. in Amsterdam.

Boxing superstar Anthony Joshua is quitting the UK to move to Dubai - even though the desert city is now in a warzone with thousands of Britons desperate to get out. Joshua would have been liable to pay UK tax on his dividend payment of £10.1million in 2024 and £6.3million in 2023. His company Sparta Promotions also made profits of £20.396million and paid £6.65million in UK tax in 2024. If individuals spend 183 days or more in the UK they are considered a UK tax resident, but if it is fewer than 16 days they would not be considered resident and eligible for taxes. There has been speculation that the attacks on Dubai could see property prices there fall by as much as 20%.

The FAI has placed a leap for the senior men's team into Europe’s top 20 as a cornerstone of its latest strategy wish-list. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s rescue act to snare a World Cup playoff spot this month improved Ireland’s Uefa ranking to 28 but a top-20 spot by 2029 is the new objective. For instance, after ditching their own Transition Year course, they want eight League of Ireland clubs to have their up and running within the next four years. “‘Access to clear and consistent player pathways varies across the country’ and that ‘League of Ireland clubs operate with far lower staffing, facilities and commercial capacity than European peers’. When it comes to the blame game, the FAI pointedly surmised: “This is not an effort problem.

Arne Slot must learn from Liverpool mistakes at Galatasaray after Steven Gerrard demandLiverpool face Galatasaray in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday and Arne Slot must get his starting XI right, having lost 1-0 to the Turkish side earlier in the seasonView 2 Images Arne Slot has selection decisions to make (Image: James Gill/Getty Images)Arne Slot needs no reminding of how difficult Tuesday's match against Galatasaray can be for Liverpool. ‌The 1-0 win in September came courtesy of a Victor Osimhen penalty, due to a stray arm by Dominik Szoboszlai. At the time, Liverpool sat top of the Premier League table, having made a strong start to their title defence, with five wins from six. ‌But that trip to Istanbul wasn't a blip, more of a sign of what was to come. It remains to be seen whether Slot is brave enough to take Gerrard's advice and use Ngumoha ahead of Gakpo on the other flank.
