The England Supporters Travel Club (ESTC) has revealed that its allocation for World Cup matches from the quarter-finals to the final is currently undersubscribed as fans face record costs to attend next summer’s tournament. The majority of Participating Member Associations (PMA) tickets are up to five times more expensive than the last World Cup in Qatar, with prices rising sharply from the quarter-final stage onwards. While Fifa subsequently introduced fixed tickets for every match at just £44.70 ($60), they cover just 10 per cent of the fan allocations. A woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog in Carlow town today. The dog which attacked the woman may have been an XL Bully, according to some reports. Some 114 XL Bully dogs were euthanised between October 2024 and October 2025, according to Department of Agriculture figures released to the Journal. A young boy, Alejandro Mizsan, was left with serious injuries following an attack by an XL Bully in November 2022. A man and a woman were jailed following the attack which left Alejandro with serious facial injuries.

Some 594 queries relating to Notices of Termination (NoT) were received by Threshold in September. This is the highest number seen since May 2023 when the winter eviction ban ended, and some 611 NoT queries were logged. However, that data also showed that the number of registered tenancies grew by 1.9 per cent annually, showing a net increase in tenancies despite the rise in eviction notices. “Taking a macro view, this is a small number of landlords, the overwhelming majority are remaining in place,” Threshold said.

A naked Pennsylvania woman allegedly confessed to stabbing her daughter to death in their stone cottage home just days before Christmas. Diane Grovola, 57, has been charged with first-degree murder for the stabbing death of her daughter. As he called 911, Diane allegedly told John she was suicidal and began stabbing herself, according to the affidavit. The operator told John to flee the home and he complied. Once secure, Diane told officers, 'Sorry, I should have stabbed myself first,' according to the affidavit.
