US ambassador Warren Stephens said the pact struck between the UK and European nations “will not resolve the UK’s energy needs”, urging Sir Keir Starmer’s Government to exploit North Sea oil and gas. The Hamburg Declaration that was signed yesterday will not resolve the UK’s energy needs. The agreement means North Sea nations will deliver 100 gigawatts of joint offshore wind projects, including schemes connected to more than one country. Our housing crisis is a supply crisis, our rental crisis is a supply crisis, and our homeless crisis is a supply crisis. The only way the housing crisis is going to be solved is by increasing supply, he said. "I don't understand why they [the opposition] are against strengthening tenants' rights, which this legislation will do in terms of its delivery.”Asked if he accepted rents would rise, Mr Browne said some rents would.
