[File, Standard]Nominated MP Jackson Kosgei yesterday warned national leaders against dividing the country along ethnic lines. He singled out Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his drive to unite only one part of the country. Kosgei, who is also a cleric, warned that such tactics risked fracturing the nation along ethnic lines and would undermine Kenya's quest for unity. “Now, if we introduce the politics of tribal identity, it is going to be dangerous. I would therefore urge politicians to do away with tribal politics and adopt nationalised politics,” Kosgei said.

In a Saturday night briefing, Mwaura acknowledged the legitimate concerns being raised but hinted at potential political motives behind the protests. Gen Z are angry — and unafraid to speak up…starting a life in activism at a young age — and going all in — is an increasingly common story among Gen Zers. On their numbers, statistics show that the median age of Kenya’s population is 20.1 years (that’s a Gen Z). The other characteristic is that the Gen Z is also the generation that was taught to speak up. Photo credit: Billy Ogada | Nation Media GroupAnd probably the most powerful characteristic of Gen Z is their ubiquitous devices and their use of social media. Our current politicians who thrive on tribal politics will be at a loss when the Gen Z start voting.
