President William Ruto has appointed High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives and Consuls-General who will serve in Kenya’s Foreign Missions. A High Commissioner is the chief diplomat in a high commission. The position is equivalent to an ambassador save that the latter is the chief diplomat in an embassy. All nominated were vetted by the National Assembly save for former West Mugirango MP Kemosi Mogaka who declined the position. Mogaka did not appear before the National Assembly committee for vetting.

The Kenyan government has ordered people living near 178 dams and reservoirs to evacuate as heavy rains continue. Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria thinks that temporary contractual employment is the answer to the pesky wage bill challenge in Kenya. The challenge in the public service is at the top. No less mischievous is the proposal by the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) to amend the Political Parties Act (2011). The proposed amendments will throw the political party space into anarchic confusion. The chosen path is to destabilise the public service, as well as crippling institutions that secure democratic rule.
