Liberia: Pres. Weah Wants the United States to Help with Investigation of the Deaths of Four AuditorsMONROVIA – President George M. Weah has asked the United States Embassy in Monrovia to help with the ongoing investigation into the deaths of two staffers of the Liberia Revenue Authority and the head of the Internal Audit Agency, Emmanuel B. Nyeswa. The referendum, seeking to amend portions of the Constitution of Liberia was scheduled by the 54th Legislature in a joint resolution to be held together with the Special Senatorial Elections in December. However, with less than two months to the polls, there have been mounting calls for the referendum to be postponed due to inadequate civic education. MONROVIA – Justice in Chamber, Associate Justice Sie-A-Nyene Youh has issued a temporary stay order on the processes leading the December 8 special senatorial elections. Associate Justice Youh’s over the weekend issued an Alternative Writ of Mandamus petitioned by the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP). The CPP was denied their first petition for a Writ of Mandamus by Associate Justice Youh. At the same time, Associate Justice Youh has order the NEC not to put a halt to all actions pertaining to the publishing of names candidates for the December 8 elections. The NEC has therefore been cited to a conference with the Justice in Chambers next Wednesday at 9:00am.
