A man has been critically injured this morning after becoming trapped in a machine at a workplace in Auckland. Emergency services were called to Birmingham Drive in Ōtara at 8.30am. The man was freed from the machinery and rushed to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition, a Hato Hone St John spokesperson said. WorkSafe said the agency had been notified and was making initial enquiries. It is unclear what machinery the man became stuck in but it is understood he has severe injuries to an arm.

Engineering technologist Jonathan (Jon) Beau Hall, director of Kodiak Consulting Ltd, allegedly completed and signed documents using the identities and credentials of chartered professional engineers “without their permission”, Templer claims. ENZ’s website also has a public search to check whether members and chartered professional engineers have outstanding notices against them. Hall is accused of forging the signatures of chartered engineers that councils used for building consents.

In a harrowing turn of events that has left the community reeling, a 16-year-old Iowa teenager has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the gruesome murder of his high school Spanish teacher. Miller, along with his accomplice Jermey Goodale, also 16 at the time, were charged as adults with first-degree murder. During the sentencing, District Judge Shawn Showers sentenced Miller to life imprisonment. Under his guilty plea, prosecutors suggested a sentence of 25 years to life with the possibility of parole for Goodale. While Goodale admitted to striking Graber, Miller claimed his involvement was limited to assisting and denied delivering any blows.
