HMS Richmond is part of the United Kingdom’s Carrier Strike Group, the greatest concentration of maritime and air power to leave the UK in a generation. The police have taken a total of 152 people into custody within the past 24 hours for violating current travel restrictions. Meanwhile, 168 more individuals who attempted to cross provincial borders have been sent back after being admonished. Island-wide travel restrictions were lifted on the 25th of June, however, the constraints to limit interprovincial movement are still in effect. Sri Lanka was hit by a third wave of COVID-19 in mid-April and in a bid to arrest the further spread of the virus, the government imposed countrywide travel restrictions which were effective for nearly a month. Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena said the country must not depend on imported milk powder and must promote local dairy production. COLOMBO (News 1st); The brother-in-law of Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen was arrested by Sri Lanka Police for committing rape. And two of these statements were from domestic aides who served at the Ex-Minister’s residence before the arrival of the 16-year-old girl. Ponnaiah Bandaram was arrested by Sri Lanka Police over the death of a 16-year-old girl employed at the residence of the Ex-Minister as a domestic aide. Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said the 22-year-old woman had expressed that she was raped at the official residence of the Ex-Minister in Colombo from 2015 to 2019. The 44-year-old brother-in-law of Ex-Minister Bathiudeen was identified as the suspect and was arrested by the detective.
