The latest Central Bank report (2020) shows that last year saw steady growth in government projects aimed at enhancing the digital infrastructure of the Sri Lankan economy. Among those services is the Lanka Government Network (LGN) and the Lanka Government Cloud (LGC), which are operated by the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka. As its first step, 860 government agencies were connected through the Lanka Government Network (LGN) under the first phase. Furthermore, Lanka Government Cloud (LGC) has provided facilities to 150 government agencies to maintain their digital services. Through this, more than 175 different digital services and more than 500 websites have been launched for public services.

A team comprising several senior diving officers of the Sri Lanka Navy, conducted a special diving operation, (06th June 2021) to inspect if there is any fuel leakage from the fire-damaged MV X-PRESS PEARL. During this underwater operation, the diving team inspected if there is any leakage from the fuel tanks in the submerged part of the MV X-PRESS PEARL. The diving team carried out this operation in unforgiving weather, as rough sea condition, poor underwater visibility and strong currents in the sea area were in existence right through. Meanwhile, the Navy has made arrangements to conduct another diving operation tomorrow as well, in order to inspect the underwater profile and investigate whether there is a fuel leakage from the ship into the sea.

The Ministry of Health has revised the quarantine measures for Sri Lankans or dual citizens arriving in the country two weeks after receiving the recommended doses of COVID-19 vaccines (fully vaccinated) and those who own a residence in Sri Lanka to undergo mandatory quarantine. However, the mandatory home quarantine is not applicable to fully-vaccinated Sri Lankans or dual citizens arriving, transited or having a travel history within the past 14 days from India, Vietnam, South Africa or South American countries within the past 14 days. The Director-General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, issuing the revised guidelines, stated that fully vaccinated travellers, upon arriving in Sri Lanka, are required to produce their vaccination certificate/card to the airport health officer and officer-in-charge of the quarantine hotel/centre or hotel doctor at safe and secure certified level 1 hotel.
