PickMe, the app driven digital mobility company has taken several new measures to further strengthen safety measures for their drivers and customers. They have entered a partnership with the police, to ensure that local police authorities are present at 12 temperature checkpoints set up in and around Colombo for regular checks of PickMe drivers. In addition they have placed placards and stickers in the vehicle fleet to remind customers and drivers of the safety protocols to be followed. As part of their safety campaign PickMe placed separators in over 6,000 tuks belonging to their fleet. Some of the successful safety precautions launched by PickMe is their Flash parcel delivery service, which enables customers to deliver a package or documents safely with minimum contact.

Tourist service centers will be established along the road network connecting the major tourist cities of the country. Under the first phase, 28 tourist service centers will be constructed in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Badulla and Kegalle districts, said Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga. The Minister said that these tourist service centers, which are equipped with all the facilities required by local and foreign tourists, will be set up in accordance with international standards and will be implemented in accordance with President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s National policy statement. COLOMBO (News 1st); A Cyberattack was carried out on several Sri Lankan government websites on Tuesday (18) said the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team. The websites of the Health Ministry, Sri Lankan Embassy in China, Energy Ministry and the Rajarata University came under a cyber attack, it said. “02 websites were restored,” said the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team, adding that no data was stolen, but data was corrupted.

They revealed that two of the sites had been recovered while the remaining are still malfunctioning. CERT also stated that there has been a significant increase in cyber security violations during this period of the year. They requested that all professionals involved in government websites to take precautions as the websites may be compromised.

The Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka stated yesterday that no Indians had arrived in Sri Lanka following the ban imposed on Indian passenger arrivals. Deputy Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited Rajiv Sooriyaarachchi stated that a SriLankan Airlines Cargo Plane arrived from Mumbai on Sunday (16) with zero passengers. On 06 May, Sri Lanka announced that all arrivals from India will be banned with immediate effect due to the record rise in COVID-19 cases in India. Several countries like the UK, the UAE, Australia and Singapore have already banned travellers from India as well as other South Asian countries. Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Authority said that travellers from India will not be allowed to disembark in Sri Lanka and the decision was taken as the Covid virus continues to spread rapidly in India.
