Authorities said a man who fatally shot two people and wounded 14 others at a bar in Austin early Sunday may have been motivated by the U.S. military campaign in Iran, according to two people briefed on the investigation. The gunman, who was killed by officers at the scene, has been identified as Ndiaga Diagne, a 53-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen who came to the country from Senegal in 2006, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a continuing investigation. He had been living in Pflugerville, Texas, a city outside Austin. At the time of the shooting, Diagne was wearing a shirt with an Iranian flag that read “Property of Allah,” and investigators later found a Quran in the car he drove to the shooting scene, one of the people familiar with the matter said.

"It all depends on... whoever the new leader is in Iran," Scott told Fox's "Sunday Morning Futures" show.

Oil futures surged in the first trades since the United States and Israel went to war with Iran over the weekend. The production increase may have somewhat blunted the surge in oil prices, but energy analysts didn’t expect the production increases to do much to keep prices in check. Oil prices had already been rising in anticipation of an attack on Iran. But an even bigger concern would be if Saudi Arabia’s oil production facilities are attacked and knocked offline for a long period of time. Gas prices expected to riseIran is the world’s sixth-largest oil producer, and any military conflict with the country would mean surging oil prices, boosting gasoline prices and overall inflation, according to experts.

Israeli officials have hinted the strike was expedited to exploit a daylight window of opportunity when senior Iranian leaders met. When asked late Saturday, Trump notably declined to say who he thought would play that role in this case. Iran’s security forces have just had a refresher course in the power of savagery, as they put down January’s uprising. The US and Israel seem united in their assessment that removing the top layer of Iran’s regime will leave them in a better place. The superior technology, intelligence and firepower of the United States and Israel enabled them to conjure a swift and simple solution to their enduring Iran problem.
