And so far, these decades-later legacy sequels — or “lega-sequels” — have helped boost a box office still recovering from the pandemic and fewer big titles due to last year’s dual Hollywood strikes. The movie hits theaters Nov. 22, alongside the highly anticipated “Wicked.”If its lega-sequel predecessors are any indication, “Gladiator II” could be bound for box-office success. In the fall, Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” burst from its grave, grossing almost $451 million worldwide, and ranking fourth in this year’s domestic box office. For “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” it was the practical effects, which made extensive use of prosthetics, puppets and some stop-motion animation. “Blade Runner 2049” brought back Harrison Ford in his replicant-hunting role after 35 years but flopped at the box office.

Paradoxical therapy does have many drawbacks, though, which might suggest why it has had limited popularity. Yet, whether intentional or not, many of the recommended nominations, if paradoxical, could backfire. Since we in psychiatry have some expertise in paradoxical therapy, we should also consider doing what is not expected, which might be to monitor how these nominations are doing and, if approved, producing. As justifiably alarmed as Democrats are by President-elect Donald Trump’s radical agenda and his nominations of unqualified candidates for Cabinet positions, these actions may be even more terrifying for Republican senators up for reelection in 2026. Susan Collins of Maine and Thom Tillis of North Carolina will be two of the most hotly contested races. Meanwhile, Daines, Rounds and other Republican senators from farming states will have to decide whether to remain mute when across-the-board tariffs drive up farm bankruptcies and destroy the rural economy. If they choose the latter, they certainly face the potential for a primary challenge from a MAGA Republican. Sometimes, Democrats may block the most harmful legislation; more often, the goal will be to make vulnerable senators pay a significant political price for complying with dangerous MAGA policies.

The analysis covers the stages in Table 1: the presumed prestige-seeking process in forming the F-16 coalition for Ukraine. Regarding the F-16 coalition, Ukraine voiced the desire to receive modern Western fighter jets.
