Blue Lobster Urban Winery closed its tasting room earlier this month, as the business prepares to vacate the Anderson Street venue and focus on its wholesale operations. Partner Jason Kroot said Blue Lobster’s leadership team told staff in November about plans to close the tasting room. “Our wholesale business was up significantly two years in a row, which isn’t necessarily the trend in the industry at the moment,” Kroot said. Kroot said while it did much better than at the original space at 219 Anderson St., the new tasting room didn’t grow its business as much as anticipated. Blue Lobster hopes to open another tasting room in Greater Portland in 2027.
