BGCS suspends Rangpur leader over ‘assaulting’ students who failed exams

A leader of the Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad (BGCS) has been suspended following allegations of beating up students who had failed the half-yearly examination at a secondary school in Rangpur city. This development was shared in a notice by BGCS Joint Member Secretary (Office) Mahfuzur Rahman on Wednesday. The central committee has taken action against Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, convenor of the BGCS Rangpur unit, citing breaches of discipline and engaging in activities against the organisation’s ideology and interests. Commenting on the complaint, Imti said: “I have been working hard at the school for six months to help the children perform well. It was no one’s fault, neither the students’, nor the guardians’, nor the teachers'.
