'In-laws may kill me': Noida woman’s call to brother before husband pushes her to death from terrace over dowry


She feared for her lifeNOIDA: A man was arrested for allegedly pushing his wife to death from the terrace of their two-storey Muradnagar home over unmet dowry demands of Rs 30 lakh in cash and a car. Four other members of the family named in the case are yet to be arrested.Akriti, a Bhangel resident, had married Gaurav of Muradnagar around six months ago. Her family said the couple were initially due to marry on Feb 20, but the wedding was called off after Gaurav’s family allegedly raised additional dowry demands. The two sides later reached a compromise at Muradnagar police station.The family alleged Akriti and Gaurav subsequently married without informing their relatives and began living together in Muradnagar. Soon after, Gaurav allegedly called Prabhat and said Akriti had fallen from the terrace.Akriti was taken to hospital, but died from her injuries on Sept 10.
