All public schools in Nova Scotia were closed Tuesday after heavy snow and high winds pummelled the province. Schools in all eight regional centres were closed, and some university campuses delayed opening. According to new report from Statistics Canada the number of trips to Canada by U.S. residents dropped 7.5 per cent in December 2025 compared to December a year earlier. The number of Canadian-resident return trips from the United States continues to slide. Arrivals to Canada by automobile (1.1 million) were down 7.5 per cent year-over-year in December 2025. Canadian-resident return trips from the United States by automobile declined 30.2 per cent to 1.5 million. The number of Canadian-resident return trips by air from the United States (718,400) fell 11 per cent.
