CAIRO-7 August 2021: Ahmed El Gendy achieved the silver medal in the Olympic men's modern pentathlon on Saturday to give Egypt the first ever medal in modern pentathlon and the first silver medal in Tokyo Olympic Games. El Gendy achieved 1,477 points, only five points behind Choong, who completed the double for the British team who also won the gold medal in women's competition. The 21-year-old became the fifth Egyptian athlete to have a medal around his neck at Tokyo Olympic Games but he is the first to achieve a silver medal. She was married to late renowned comedian Samir Ghanem and the couple had two daughters who are the famed actresses Donia Samir Ghanem and Amy Samir Ghanem. Her performance in recent films is quite different from the performance style that characterized her at the start of her career.

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) during the early hours of Saturday received the first boat belonging to King Khufu 48 hours after transferring it from its place of display in the pyramids archeological area to the GEM. The General Supervisor of the GEM project and the surrounding area, Atef Moftah, explained that the transfer of the boat is one of the state’s most important archaeological engineering projects. Moftah stated that the boat was transported as one piece inside a metal structure lifted on a smart remote-controlled vehicle, which was brought in specifically for this purpose from abroad to safely settle the boat in its new location at the GEM’s Khufu Boat Museum. Back in August 2020, the Khufu Boat Museum was closed in the pyramids archeological area, and rehabilitation work began to transfer it to the Khufu Boat Building in GEM, currently being equipped with the latest scientific methods for museum display. In the next few days, the GEM is scheduled to organize a news conference on the details of transferring the first Khufu boat from its place of display in the pyramids area to GEM.

CAIRO-6 August 2021: History has been made in Tokyo as Egyptian Karateka Giana Farouk won the bronze medal in Kumite 61kg. Farouk became the first Arab and African Karateka to win a medal in the Olympic Games in the sport's historic debut at the Olympic Games as one of the four sports added specifically for 2020 Olympic Games. In the semi-finals contest, Giana faced World N.2 Yin Xiaoyan from China, who finished on top of her group. According to the Karate regulations, the competitors who lose in the semi-finals win the bronze medal without the need to play the bronze-medal match. Giana's bronze medal is Egypt's fourth medal at Tokyo Olympic Games after Hedaya Malak and Seif Eissa who won the bronze in Taekwondo and Mohamed Ibrahim Kesho who won the bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling.
