In November 2020, Egypt proposed to host the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC in 2022, a decision that was taken at a difficult time when there was no manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccines at that time. She further noted that every year, a certain region is chosen to host the conference, and in 2022, it will be the turn of Africa to host the conference. Egypt has submitted a letter to host the COP 27 and coordinated with the African group, the African Group of Negotiators on Climate Change (AGN) and the council of African environment ministers, she said. She cited Egypt's initiative to convert fuel-powered cars to natural gas vehicles (NGVs) or electric vehicles (EVs). The summit also aims at maximizing the co-benefits of a food systems approach across the entire 2030 Agenda and meeting the challenges of climate change.

Cairo-30 July 2021: Egypt men's handball team defeated Sweden 27-22 on Friday morning, booking a place in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games for the first time since 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. The Pharaohs dominated the game and outclassed their opponents to achieve Egypt's best ever victory over Sweden, the runner-up of 2021 World Cup. Egypt will take on Bahrain in the last game of the group stage, aiming for another victory in the competition to reach the quarter-finals as one of the top two teams of the group. Egypt’s Health Minister Hala Zayed announced that UNICEF has granted Egypt 63 refrigerators in which it can store doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine. She explained that the units can store roughly 619,000 doses, with the Pfizer vaccine expected to arrive within days. Egypt will soon receive more raw materials for the Sinovac vaccine, enough to manufacture 70.2 million doses, in addition to 20 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik-V vaccine, 20 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine, 35.6 million doses of AstraZeneca, and 2.4 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine. According to Zayed, the total number of vaccines that will be supplied from August until the end of the year will reach 148.2 million doses, which is enough to vaccinate 83.7 million citizens. Egypt has a population of 104 million and had announced in June that it had vaccinated roughly 2.5 million people.

As many as 331 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 229,167 so far, the spokesman said. Egypt will receive 148.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine as of August till the year end, Health Minister Hala Zayed said on Thursday. New quantities of China's Sinovac COVID-19 raw materials are to arrive in the country in August to manufacture 70.2 million jabs, she said. The new arrivals will also include 20 million doses of Sputnik vaccine, 20 million doses of Johnson &Johnson vaccine, 35.6 million of AstraZeneca and 2.4 million of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, she added. She noted that infection and death rates are remarkably declining in the country.

CAIRO-29 July 2021: The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) issued a statement on Thursday announcing that the domestic league and cup matches, which was scheduled to start from 1 August will be postponed. The EFA statement added that the new schedule will be announced on Sunday, based on the result of Egypt's match against Brazil on Saturday in the quarter-finals. After it was freed on March 29, the ship was escorted to the Bitter Lakes for technical inspection, crew interrogation, and black box analysis. On July 7, 2021, the vessel left the international trade route, heading toward Rotterdam, Netherlands, after the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the shipowner reached an agreement of settlement.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population reported on Wednesday 38 new coronavirus cases, nine deaths, and 212 recovered cases. A total of 284,128 cases have been reported in Egypt, alongside 16,507 deaths and 228,836 recovered cases. Madbouly announced at the beginning of June that 2.5 million citizens have received a vaccine against COVID-19, out of Egypt’s population of 104 million. The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Supply, Medical Supply and Medical Technology Administration (UPA) announced in mid-June that it has secured over 46 million COVID-19 doses during the fiscal year 2020/2021. Egypt’s Prime Minister added that Egypt has also produced one million doses of coronavirus vaccines thus far.

The initiative was launched by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi during the tripartite summit in the Cypriot capital of Nicosia in 2017. Nostos – the Return, meaning “roots revival,” is an initiative launched by Makram in October upon directives from President Sisi. The train vehicles are part of a deal signed between the Railway authority and Transmash Holding Company, the representative of the Russian-Hungarian alliance that supplies the deal of 1,300 vehicles. According to the deal, 51 percent of the vehicles are manufactured in Russia and 49 percent are manufactured in Hungary. Worth one billion, 16 million and 50 thousand Euros, the deal is to manufacture and supply the Egyptian railway system with 1,300 train vehicles. The deal includes 800 air-conditioned cars and 500 third class cars with dynamic ventilation. Egypt has started receiving new train vehicles as part of a plan to renovate its train fleet.
