उत्तराखंड हाई कोर्ट ने हल्द्वानी के डहरिया में हुए दोहरे हत्याकांड के दो आरोपियों अख्तर अली और महेंद्र नाथ गोस्वामी को जमानत पर रिहा करने का आदेश दिया है। न्यायमूर्ति रविंद्र मैथानी और न्यायमूर्ति सिद्धार्थ शाह की खंडपीठ ने उनके जमानत प्रार्थना पत्रो. यह मामला 22 फरवरी 2017 का है, जब हल्द्वानी के डहरिया में एक व्यक्ति की पत्नी और माता की हत्या कर दी गई थी। इस मामले में जिला सत्र न्यायाधीश नैनीताल ने 22 जून 2023 को दोनों आरोपियों को आजीवन कारावास की सजा सुनाई थी।जिला सत्र न्यायाधीश के इस आदेश को अख्तर अली और महेंद्र नाथ गोस्वामी ने 2023 में अलग-अलग वाद दायर कर उच्च न्यायालय में चुनौती दी थी। इसके बाद उन्होंने अपनी जमानत के लिए आवेदन किया।उच्च न्यायालय ने सुनवाई के दौरान पाया कि मामले में कोई ठोस सबूत मौजूद नहीं है। इसी आधार पर खंडपीठ ने दोनों आरोपियों को जमानत पर रिहा करने का आदेश दिया।पीड़ित ने 21 फरवरी 2017 की रात करीब दस बजे अपनी पत्नी और माता को फोन किया था। अगले दिन 22 फरवरी 2017 को दोपहर में उसे बताया गया कि उसकी पत्नी और माता की अज्ञात लोगों ने हत्या कर दी है। पीड़ित की शिकायत पर पुलिस ने जांच शुरू की और कुछ ही समय में अख्तर अली और महेंद्र नाथ गोस्वामी को घटना में शामिल होने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया। अख्तर अली पहले उनके घर में काम भी कर चुका था।जमानत प्रार्थना पत्रों पर सुनवाई के दौरान आरोपियों की ओर से तर्क दिया गया कि उन्हें इस मामले में गलत फंसाया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि दोनों हत्याएं खुले में हुई थीं, जहां कोई भी आ-जा सकता था और वारदात के समय कोई मौजूद नहीं था। पुलिस ने सूचना के आधार पर एक स्क्रूड्राइवर, खून से सनी कमीज और कुछ अन्य सामान खुले स्थान से बरामद किए थे।
