India has taken steps to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in the Gulf while safeguarding the country’s strategic interests, external affairs minister S. Jaishankar told the Parliament on Monday. Nearly 67,000 Indian nationals have returned from the region so far through additional commercial flights and other arrangements amid partial airspace openings, Jaishankar said. The Gulf region is vital for India’s energy security and trade, accounting for nearly $200 billion in commerce. Jaishankar said he had also spoken with Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi on February 28 and March 5. Jaishankar also informed Parliament that an Iranian vessel, IRIS Lavan, had docked at Kochi on March 4 after India granted permission on humanitarian grounds.

जागरण संवाददाता, नई दिल्ली। दिल्ली शराब घोटाले के मामले में पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल समेत 23 आरोपियों को आरोपमुक्त करने के ट्रायल कोर्ट के फैसले का हाई कोर्ट में विरोध करते हुए सीबीआई ने कहा कि निर्णय के कुछ हिस्से तथ्यात्मक रूप से गलत हैं।सीबीआई की ओर से पेश हुए साॅलिसिटर जनरल (एसजी) तुषार मेहता ने अदालत में कहा कि यह फैसला आपराधिक कानून की स्थापित प्रक्रिया को उलटने जैसा है। आरोपमुक्ति के चरण में पुष्टि जरूरी नहीं: एसजी एसजी तुषार मेहता ने दलील दी कि गवाहों के बयानों की पुष्टि मुकदमे की सुनवाई तक आवश्यक नहीं होती और उनसे जिरह की जा सकती है। उन्होंने कहा कि गवाह को अदालत में पेश कर उसकी जांच और जिरह की प्रक्रिया बाद के चरण में होती है।उन्होंने कहा कि आरोपमुक्त करने का चरण गवाहों के बयानों की पुष्टि मांगने का नहीं होता। ट्रायल कोर्ट के फैसले में बार-बार पुष्टि की कमी का जिक्र किया गया है, जबकि मामले में पुष्टि मौजूद थी, लेकिन उसे नजरअंदाज कर दिया गया।सरकारी गवाह के बयान से पुष्ट होने का दावा एसजी ने अदालत को बताया कि सरकारी गवाह दिनेश अरोड़ा का बयान अशोक कौशिक के बयान से पुष्ट होता है। अशोक कौशिक कथित रूप से रिश्वत देने वाले का पीए है। उन्होंने कहा कि ये सभी नोट आरोपितों के मोबाइल फोन में भी मिले थे, लेकिन ट्रायल कोर्ट ने इस पर कोई निष्कर्ष नहीं निकाला।
