These are among a series of complaints raised by Cork county councillors, who say An Post’s service in the region is “in meltdown”. Mr Harrington who lives in Allihies, said the village recently lost its post office. "For a community already impacted by the loss of its post office, that's simply unacceptable. "I’m aware of one man who sent a telescope worth thousands of euro by registered post back to a manufacturer for repair. “I have some constituents who didn’t get post until the middle of January,” he said.

After this season, Rodri has one more year left on his Etihad contract, and City are understandably very keen for the 29-year-old to sign a new, relatively long-term deal. But for Rodri to openly talk about it makes you wonder if he knows this season could mark the end of a City era. Which is why Arsenal and Mikel Arteta can afford to have zero complacency over the Premier League title run-in. But if this does happen to be Pep’s last season in the Premier League, he will be desperate for a magical end. And an Arsenal cruise to the title is not the formality it once looked.

Stuart Lancaster insists he did everything he could to keep Matthew Devine at Connacht but that ultimately it was the player’s decision to join Ulster in the summer on a one-year deal. Devine was reluctant to sign a three-year contract having only started nine of the 28 games he has played for Connacht. Devine made his debut in January 2024 but so far has played under three Connacht head coaches, including interim Cullie Tucker. The departure of the likes of Matthew Devine runs contrary to Connacht schemes such as ‘Grassroots to green shirts’, so did Lancaster and Connacht do everything to hold onto him? “He's a great player, he's a great lad, we’ve got him and his brother have got on really well with both of them.

Stephen, although it’s dropped out of my passport now, so I’m just Richard Hogan these days. So, I’m Richard Stephen the third, although my brother used to say that without the “h” in the title. I’m the youngest of three boys, and unless we work our way out of it, birth orders absolutely define us; they impact how we talk to ourselves. I’d love to believe other things, but my logic, reasoning and rationality are too powerful to allow me to go down a different route. I’d love to say Tom Hardy, but that’s just my ego speaking.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the six‑year duration of the Limerick Garda probe “put enormous pressure on families and people”, as he ruled out supporting a public inquiry. The pressure has intensified after charges were dropped against three gardaí who had been suspended from duty in 2020. Mr Martin said he opposed the idea of a public inquiry, and pointed out that such situations should be reviewed “with the existing mechanisms and institutions”. Public inquiries take an enormous length of time, cost an enormous amount of money, and often do not give solace to those who sought them in the first instance,” Mr Martin said. “The length of time this took put enormous pressure on families and people,” he added.
