We’re offering four €250 Good Food Ireland vouchers for the submissions that inspire us most. They were attending the annual International Armoured Vehicles Conference, which bills itself as “the largest, most influential gathering of the global armoured vehicles community”. If things proceed as expected, Ireland will rely on French companies for a huge proportion of its heavy-duty military equipment. By 2030 France could be in receipt of almost €2 billion in Irish defence contracts, a staggering figure considering the entire Irish defence budget for this year is €1.48 billion. Photograph: Dara Mac DónaillSome military sources expressed concern about the lack of military contracts being directed towards Irish companies. Unsurprisingly, this is also the view of the Irish Defence and Security Association (IDSA), a representative group for Irish companies involved in the defence sector.

Tony had previously joined in with the posts poking fun at Brooklyn's claims that Victoria 'danced very inappropriately'. The clip was captioned 'POV: Victoria Beckham during Brooklyn's first dance' and Fat Tony added the words: 'Actual video footage it’s true I was there !' Tony's partner, Stavros Agapiou, also backed up Brooklyn's 'inappropriate' dancing comment.

The tribunal panel heard that Ms Okembunachi had been rostered for night shifts from 13 to 27 March 2024. Twenty minutes after she received the email, Ms Okembunachi tendered her resignation and declined to attend the meeting. During her second degree, Ms Okembunachi had to take a leave of absence after failing the mid-year anatomy exam. Early that year, the tribunal heard that her younger sister required an expensive surgery for a scoliosis condition, which cost their father about $60,000. But the panel did note that Ms Okembunachi had been 'clearly remorseful and contrite... and conspicuously honest in her evidence'.

But where lies a small, peripheral country like Ireland, given the “rupture” in the world order that Carney referred to? Nostalgia for the Clinton, Obama and Biden eras and US engagement with the Irish peace process provides no contemporary comfort. Trump’s relentless denigration of the EU is not something that can be sidestepped by Irish political leaders. The original American struggles against empire inspired the Irish to adopt a similar course. Our ties have been built on centuries of shared historical experience, immigration and trade.

As a historic winter storm creeps closer to wide swaths of the US, public officials are sounding the alarm about the potentially deadly consequences of not taking the weather event seriously. More than 200 million Americans are under a winter storm advisory. Inadequate gear can cause frostbite within minutes, opening the door to hypothermia, a true medical emergency. Temperatures Friday night into Saturday morning (above) will hit the single digits on the East Coast while the upper Midwest will see temperatures fall far below zeroMore than 200 million Americans are under winter storm advisories. Former UFC champion fighter Michael Bisping uttered some unfortunately timed commentary during a weigh-in for bantamweight star Cameron Smotherman on Friday morning. Smotherman was in the final stages of preparation for his Saturday fight against Ricky Turcios. The American fighter successfully made the 135.5 pound weight limit as Bisping was discussing the process of weigh-ins with TNT Sports in the UK. 'I never have any sympathy for these guys,' Bisping told his co-hosts as Smotherman stood on the stage directly behind him. At the exact moment Bisping uttered those final words, Smotherman fainted - crashing down face-first on the stage about a foot away from the TNT crew.

Garda McCarrick said the door was only open for “split seconds” before it was closed again. The witness said he could not remember which way Mr Nkencho was facing when he was shot as it was “a fluid situation and George was moving so much". However, the witness said Mr Nkencho refused to give him any more information. Garda McCarrick said he had considered using pepper spray on Mr Nkencho but felt it was unsafe at the time to do so.
