On Monday, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Khan addressed the United Nations Security Council in New York to deliver his bi-annual report on Darfur. While the Council referred the matter to the ICC in 2005, the main focus has been on crimes that took place after April 2023. The prosecutor previously mentioned the ongoing crimes in North Darfur and the regional capital of El Fasher. Karim Khan also sought the cooperation of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by General Hemedti. He condemned the financial and political support for the militias and the inaction of the international community.

A landslide triggered by heavy rains in southern Ethiopia’s Wolaita area killed at least 13 people and the number of fatalities is expected to rise, a local official said Monday. “We have now evacuated more than 300 people as a precaution and in anticipation of yet another likely major landslide." A frantic rescue effort was underway in the Wolaita area, according to the regional government. Monday's landslide appeared to be less deadly than one that occurred last month in another area in southern Ethiopia where more than 200 people were killed. In 2016, more than 41 people died and hundreds were displaced in the same area after heavy rains triggered a deadly mudslide.

Well, and, you know, we've we've seen the burger really plunge since that announcement that the government made last week. But the predominant market was the parallel market, almost 80% of imports and inverted zero trading, which is a moderate. And as you know, we have a significant amount of research that we've been able to mobilize from them as all banks. I mean, is there concern that you could see something similar happening in Ethiopia? Let's talk about because you were mentioning the packages that Ethiopia secured, of course, last week as part of this.

Reporters get the story first and their media infrastructure is quick, it’s collaborative, virtual, global, technical, and getting better all the time. Media are part and parcel of its psyop efforts to influence target audiences, and Hamas teaches its public relations people how to make the best impression with Western media representatives. There is a disproportionate number of foreign journalists in Israel, because it’s a great posting. Media may be the backbone of democracy, but not if media are part and parcel of psyop to influence target audiences. That leads to the authors’ plausible answer to the question of why Hamas and its cohorts expend so much effort on psyop.

Human Rights Watch could not establish the location or date these photographs were taken. Human Rights Watch has received a list of nine people who remain detained in connection with Batte's case. In recent months, Ethiopian authorities have increased threats, intimidation, and harassment against prominent Ethiopian human rights organizations, including the Ethiopian Human Rights Council, the country's oldest, independent rights group. Human Rights Watch and other rights organizations have repeatedly raised concerns about the government's lack of effective investigations into human rights violations, and about the capacity and independence of Ethiopia's investigative and judicial institutions, which are subject to political interference. "The Ethiopian authorities have glossed over or treated dismissively numerous high-profile killings and other human rights abuses against perceived critics of the government," Bader said.

My family and I were on the verge of dying, but God gave us a new life. His wife and children were forced to move in with relatives in another neighbourhood of Beirut. Last week's killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran’s capital, Tehran, and Hezbollah commander, Shukur, in Beirut - both attributed to Israel - have raised tensions in the region. The neighbourhood was decimated during the 2006 war between Israel and Lebanon as Israel targeted members of Hezbollah. One of them is Mohammed Fadlallah, who suffered a broken leg and lost his 10-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter, while his older son is at another Beirut hospital undergoing treatment for burns.
